6 BOCNEWS.com JUNE 2017 FAITH IN THE NAME OF JESUS – PART IV A. Being Born into a Great Name Faith in the Name of Jesus. We’ve been talking on faith in the Name of Jesus. There are names, and there are Names. The Name of Jesus is greater than any of the names. Go with me to Philippians 2:5-11. “Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, who being in the form of God did not consider it robbery to be equal with God but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant and coming in the likeness of a man. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even death on the cross. Therefore, God has also highly exalted Him, giving Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus, every knee should bow, of those in heaven and of those on earth and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father.” The Bible says that God has highly exalted Him, and God gave Him a Name that is greater than all other names. So, when you think about any name at all, the Name of Jesus is greater. What we want to do today is, let’s look at how did He get to that place where God seriously just lifted this Man up that much? How did He obtain that excellent Name? Some men are born great, and they came with a great name. When my mother was pregnant with me, I was in her belly—how many of you know that’s true? I didn’t see anybody standing by our window, trying to guess, “Is it a boy or a girl?” I think you get what I’m saying. But then there are some in society, that as soon as they found out they are pregnant, the Paparazzi are ready—they want to know whether it’s a man or a woman. I’ve been a very nice person; nobody troubled my parents when I was coming. I know that when you were coming, your family’s house was jam-packed with news media. How many of you are like that? Nobody? And people are already excited to know what the name is of this one. Do you remember when Prince Charles and Princess Diana were expecting? It was as if the Queen herself was pregnant. Everybody was running over, “Oh, what are they going to name him?” What am I saying? Some people came already with a great name because of how they were born and where they were born. Their name is already known. B. Making One’s Name Great by Achievement But you have others that made their name great by their achievements. Once a child is born into the house of Mr. and Mrs. Phillips in England, you know that child is either a queen-to-be or a king-to-be. Many of you don’t know that the Queen is Mrs. Phillips. That’s the name of the husband. But others, their name became great by their achievement. If I walk past Mr. Gates Sr., I would not have thought of anything other than, “He opens the door.” But there was a boy that was born into the Gates family that turned the entire Gates’ family name into a house- hold name. Bill Gates. Remember that? He made the name of the family great by what he did, not because he was born into a great family. Now, everybody in Kenya now wants to be Obama. Are you hearing what I’m saying? If you are from Kenya and that part of the world, even if you are not related to Obama you will say, “My uncle’s friend who is closer to the brother of the friend of my mom’s aunt is related to Obama.” Because what? Mr. Obama Sr., schooled in the United States, had his master’s degree in economics, but he was a drunk. He loved his beer. Are you hearing me? He impreg- nated and married one young white girl in Hawaii. They were so poor, and the brother had to go back to Kenya. When he got to Kenya he married another woman. There’s nothing great in that family. Are you hearing what I’m saying? The family is divided into equal halves: half is Muslim, and half are Christian. But the young boy, the only one that his mama had from his father because the mother now remarried, became the President of the United States. And now one guy is in China, his name is Obama, from Kenya. He’s talking to the press because his great cousin…if he was in jail nobody would want to say, “I’m related to him.” Are you hearing what I’m saying? In other words, you can be born into a great family with a great name or you can actually make the name of your family great by what you achieve. Ade Ajala By Rev.
