No. No. The Bible says that God said, “You are My Son, today I have begotten You.” And that is the key—that is the key—to finding out when He obtained that Name. When? Most people think He was begotten when He came into the world as a babe. “Oh yeah, angels were singing. That’s when He was begotten.” No, no. The Son of God was not born when He took the flesh. The Son of God has been before He came, remember that. John told us that in the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The Bible says in verse 14, “The Word became flesh.” So ‘the Word became flesh’ means that He took the form of a human being, so it was not then that He was begotten. If we look at it like that then it means that He was not equal with God before He came. But if He has always been equal with God, then we need to find out when was He then begot- ten? If it was not from heaven, then there must be a time that He was begotten. Now, look at Hebrews 10:5. He said, “Therefore when He came into the world, He said, ‘Sacrifice and offering You did not desire, but a body You have prepared for Me.’” This was Jesus talking to the Father. “You have prepared”—what? “A body for Me.” Because He and God were one and the same. We have God the Father, God the Son and the Holy Spirit—they are not three Gods, they are one God. That is the mystery of the Trinity. He said, “But when I was coming, You did not desire sacrifice and offering, but what You did desire—You prepared for me a body.” Then that means it was not the day He was begotten. To be begotten means to be born once again. Ah, I hope you will get this one. Now, what was ‘today’? Another translation said, ‘this day I have begotten You’. Who has the transla- tion, ‘this day’? This day. What was that? Look at Acts 13:33. He obtained that name by inheritance, and we realize that the day that He obtained that name is, the Bible says, ‘today I have begotten You.’ Acts 13:33 says, “And God, God has fulfilled this for us—their children—in that He has raised up Jesus as it is also written in the second Psalm, ‘You are My Son, today I have begotten You.’” You are My Son, today I have begotten You. Now, do you know the day He was begotten? He was begotten the day He was raised from the dead. Today: the day He was raised from the dead, that was the day He was begotten. On that Resurrection Morning, that is the day He was begotten. 2. Spiritual Death You know, He tasted death for all of us. He tasted death for every one of us. He died on the cross, He took our place, and He tasted not just physical death, He tasted—what? Spiritual death. Do you remember when he cried out on the cross, “My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?” in Matthew 27:46? And then the Bible says that He died. Now, when He said, “My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?” do you know what was going on at that point? He died spiritually. Spiritually. He was separated from God. One who was always one with God all of a sudden found Himself separated from God. When we talk about death in the Bible—in the Bible there are many deaths; there are many dif- ferent types of death, but let’s look at three that are very prominent. There is what is called ‘physical death’. That’s when somebody died and is dead. But then if physi- cal death is the end of man, why do we then turn around and say, “May his soul rest in peace.” Are you hearing me? So, if physical death is the end of man, then why are we saying, “May his soul rest in peace”? We are saying that because we know that physical death is not the end of man. In the year 2000, I preached a sermon “You Shall Never Die”, and that is the truth. And if you don’t listen to that sermon, if you just see the caption, you will say, “Oh, heretic. He said you can never die.” But the truth is you can never die. Spirits don’t die. You will shed this body, but you will live on, either in His presence—and I’ll tell you another death—or in the lake of fire. The death in the lake of fire is called ‘Eternal Death’. Or the Bible calls it ‘the second death’. It’s eternal death. So, you have physical death, you have eternal death, which is the opposite of eternal life, and then you have the spiritual death. Say what? Really? Yes. If anyone enters into spiritual death and didn’t come back he will end up in the third death which is eternal death. When you were born, you and I were born physically, but we had not yet been born spiritually. So, long as we carry the DNA of a fallen man...When we were born we were born physically but not spiritually. FAITH pt iv ... from page 8 Continued online at bocnews.com
