12 BOCNEWS.com NOVEMBER 2017 Ingredients That Make Faith Work Acts chapter 23 verses 12-14: And when it was day some Jews banded together and bound themselves under an oath saying they would neither eat or drink until they had killed Paul. Now there were more than forty who had formed this conspiracy. They came to the chief Priest and Elders and said we have bound ourselves under a great oath that we will eat nothing until we have killed Paul. It was so intense for Paul that even the people didn’t want to eat. They were so convinced that what they were doing was right. They said, “We bind ourselves under oath. Until Paul dies we will not eat anything.” Paul didn’t die. They went up and ate. This was the man of faith. If you are walking by faith, don’t expect to be without adversity. Faith doesn’t mean we won’t have adversity, but God will give us the grace to overcome it. Don’t join the band wagon of those who say, “As long as you are walking by faith you will not face challenges.” In fact, your faith is what will draw challenges so that people can know that your faith is genuine. What kept Paul going in all these things, was because he knows it was the spirit of faith. The spirit of faith. Hear me, when you have the spirit of faith you may not be the most talented, you may not be the smartest, you may not be the prettiest, you may not be the most handsome, you may not be the man with the most money, but if you have the spirit of faith you can get anything you need to get the job done anytime. It really doesn’t matter. I’m going to show you why some people’s faith is not working. And I’ll tell you one of them: many- people don’t have patience. Faith without patience ends up as a frustrated religious exercise. Faith and patience work together. You can’t separate them. The bible says, “Who through faith and patience obtained the promise.” If you are not patient, you will become a patient in the school of faith. There is no fear for those who walk by faith. Why? God has not given us the spirit of fear. 2nd Timothy 1:7 God has not given us the spirit of fear but He has given us the spirit of love, the spirit of power & of sound mind. When you have the spirit of faith there is nothing that will not be possible for you. When you have the spirit of faith it reflects in what you say. It is a saying thing. And there is noth- ing wrong with you saying it. It is not being arrogant it is being confident. Faith that doesn’t have word is a dead faith. Faith speaks. In 1st Samuel chapter 17 we saw the young boy David from verse 45. He came to meet a giant. David had a speaking faith. The spirit of faith is a spir- it that speaks to the mountain. If you don’t speak to your giant, he will kill you. David said to the Philistine, You come to me with a sword, with a spear, with a javelin but I come to you in the name of the Lord of Hosts. Did you hear that? The God of the armies of Israel whom you have defiled. Now watch verse 46: This day the Lord will deliver you into my hand. He’s speaking now, he’s speaking to the giant. This day the Lord will deliver you into my hand. And I will strike you and take your head from you. Don’t forget the bible says, “ And there was no sword in David’s hand.” “I will kill you, I will take your head from you. And this day I will give the carcasses of the camp of the Philistines to the birds of the air. Hear this, I’m not just going to kill you I’m going to kill all y’all. Did you hear that? I will give your carcasses none of you will escape.” He’s speaking. Any Christian who has a closed mouth will struggle as if he doesn’t have the victory. Watch this; “And this day I will give the carcasses of the camp of the Philistines to the birds of the air and the wild beasts of the earth that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel. Then all the assembly should know that the Lord does not save with sword and spear for the battle is the Lord’s and He will give you into our hands.” He was speaking. It was a speaking faith. Now watch verse 48: …so, it was when the Philistine arose and came and drew near to meet David. Look at what David did. David hurried and ran towards him. He didn’t run away from him. After you have spoken, run towards your giant. There was a time I don’t know if they show it in other countries, I know they show it in United States and in Nigeria I used to watch it - it was a wrestling match. There was a guy there called Mighty Igor. Are old enough to have watched that wrestling Mighty Igor? Mighty Igor defeated his opponents with a head butt. Whenever they were wrestling, anytime he wanted to take them out, he would just grab their head and give them a head butt, and the opponent would stand there but he was gone. And Mighty Igor would dance and dance, and he would come back and put his hand on the nose and the guy would just fall. When you speak the word to your Goliath, he’s already dead. Are you hearing me? That Goliath is already dead. But many of the times they will say, “say what you see.” You are lying. Don’t lie. Tell them that when God saw darkness He didn’t say it is so dark there, He said’ “light be.” You speak your solution. Never run away from your giant with your mouth closed. Speak to that Giant. Paul said, “I believed therefore I speak.” Speak what you believe. The reason people don’t know what to say is because they don’t have the word in them. Speak the word only. Matthew chapter 17 verse 20: So, Jesus said to them, “Because of your unbelief; for I surely say to you if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, “Be moved and be cast into the sea.” If you have faith as mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there.’ And it will move”. Look at what he now says now, “…nothing will be impossible for you.” SCRIPTURE By Rev. Dr. Ade Ajala Ade Ajala 1. Marvin Sapp - Close 2. The Williams Brothers - Timeless 3.
