11 NOVEMBER 2017 BODY OF CHRIST NEWS The FACEIT Awards ThispastweekFACEITCommunity, Inc., a Colorado 501c(3) founded by Rev. Reginald Holmes, in 2003, awarded two grants totaling $47,500 to two metro area non-profits in the area of economic empowerment. The Financial Education and Economic Transformation (FEET) Center, represented by founder and Executive Director Rev. David McConico (far left), received $22,500 to continue to offer financial educa- tion and asset development in the Aurora Public Schools. In 2006, Rev. McConico was instrumental in get- ting financial education as a "desig- nated activity" throughout the APS District. Rev. McConico holds an M.Div. from Illiff School of Theology. He is a CFP and co-owner of First Florida Securities. Alan Gappinger (second from left)) is the founder and CEO of Heartland Institute of Financial Education. FACEIT awarded Heartland a $25,000 grant. Alan is a CFP, CFEd., as is Heartland's Chairman Doug McLemore (far right) and many on Heartland's staff. What is unique about the work of these two non-profits is they provide economic empowerment to low and moderate income families who, on their own, would never have access to such financial services. FACEIT commends the FEET Center and Heartland for making financial edu- cation available to the "underserved" and the "undersaved" in the Denver Metro area. These services are cur- rently being provided to students in Aurora School District and will be extended into the Denver faith com- munity in 2018. ness. It's time that you turn your guns on the devil and tell him to get out of your house. If you want God to help you, humble yourself under the mighty hand of God. If you want God to help you, repent from being mean to each other, and God will heal your land. The devil knows that when the two of you stand on God's Word together that nothing is impossible for you. He knows that when you are building your life on the rock of Christ Jesus that you will devil proof your house. If the two of you will put aside your differences, and fight the enemy, you can run him out of your house today. If the two of you will gang up on the devil, he won't have a chance. Even if you don't like each other, start rebuking the devil and watch God turn your situation around. Watch The Day of Impeachment is Near Forget that NFL players and any- body else exercising their right to free speech can’t because President Donald Trump says so. Forget that police officers and white Supremacists can do what they want and incite riots because President Trump seems to condone their actions. But what we shouldn’t forget is how an African-American soldier died for his country and what President Trump told his grieving widow: “He knew what he signed up for.” I am still fuming over this one. So it is just a matter of time as impeachment nears for President Trump. My brother spent more than 25 years in the Navy serving his country during the Desert Storm era. He helped protect the future of this nation. 9 News anchor/report- er in Denver, Tarhonda Thomas, with a heavy heart shared her story about losing her brother, Chief Warrant Officer Terry Thomas, who was killed serving his country. He was an Apache helicopter pilot in the Army. I just recently went to see the movie “Thank You for Your Service” and was deep- ly saddened by it. The movie did not have an outstand- ing cast of actors, mostly unknown. And the movie was slow in some parts. But it was about a group of American soldiers—I do emphasize American no matter the ethnicity - who returned from Iraq and their lives turned upside down for the worse. It also emphasized how our government mistreats our Veterans. ENOUGH... from pg 9 Continued on Page 15 OPINION By Sheila Smith
