The show’s air channels are 89.3 FM Denver, 88.5 Vail and 89.7 in Breckenridge. For two decades, Walker has fed us God’s words through gospel music. She recalls, “The doors opened for me with Leon Owens at KLDC Radio. It was more directed toward gospel and that was already deep in my heart.” From there, Walker launched her own CC Gospel Music Ministry. However, being an East High School gradu- ate and roots based in Denver, Walker had been down a long successful road. Walker attended UCLA in Los Angeles, Ca on a music scholarship. She later worked at 20th Century Fox, and was a communication director for a record company. In 1994, her father became seriously ill. “I was at the peak of my career that I had to make a choice to go back home (to Denver). I cried myself to sleep that night and didn’t know what to do. I woke up and God spoke to me that morning and said, ‘Go home. Whatever it is, I will bless you overwhelmingly than what you already accomplished,’ ” says Walker She went back home to Denver and God blessed her with two more years to spend with her father before he died. Currently, Walker is with KUVO/ KVJZ continuing her ministry through gospel music. She is also doing her own thing on stream- ing internet radio –daws2000.com. D e b o r a h Walker’s name is a giant when it comes to her expertise in media and knowl- edge as a gospel music impresa- rio as some call her, which she explains, “I am committed to Gospel music because it is the foundation of our culture. We need to preserve and perpetuate it as long as we can—just like Black History month.” An industry mover-and-shaker, Walker’s track record can’t be beat when it comes to knowing the packaging, marketing, production and trends of what gospel music brings to the people.
