5 JULY 2019 BODY OF CHRIST NEWS example for the smaller church lead- ers to follow? Now, TV preachers are for sure using TV to bring in the money. They claim that they need your financial support to reach out to the nations. What percentage goes to those nations and what percent goes to the anointed preacher? The secular advertising world always wants to accept contributions for a just cause. Reports come in informing the people that only about 20% goes for the cause, and the rest goes to the advertisor. What about the church? Is only about 20% going to feed the poor but the rest goes to the preacher? Is all of this being done in the Name of Jesus? How many Bibles are really being sent into the prisons from local churches? Could it be that even the small struggling pastors, who are trying to keep the two front doors if their church open, be compromising the Word of God just to put bread on the table? Is it possible that the early New Testament church had it all figured out from the very beginning? To make sure that they never put themselves into a position to have to compromise the Word just to survive? Do modern day pastors have a choice when it comes to competing with the thriving church down the road? Maybe that's why the early NT church met in the homes. We as Christians are supposed to be repenting and turning from a life of greed instead of using the NAME of Jesus to support the habit. What does Peter have to say? "But there were also false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will secretly introduce destructive her- esies even denying (contradicting the truth-Strong's-Greek 720) the sov- ereign Lord who bought them, bring swift destruction on them selves, (and their followers-Isa 9:16). MANY will follow their shameful ways and will bring the way of truth into dis- repute (scandal, deceptive, slander, misrepresentation). In their GREED these teachers will exploit you with stories they have made up. Their CONDEMNATION has long been hang- ing over them, and their destruction has not been sleeping" (2Pet 2:1-3 NIV). There is nothing wrong or unbib- lical for those who make a living, owning a Christian book store, busi- ness, ministry, news paper, tee shirt store... However, the Lord is talking about those who take up offerings for church needs, yet fail to tell the people that much of those needs are going to line their pockets. "For the GREED ... continued from page 4 Continued on Page 22
