10 BOCNEWS.com JULY 2019 Atraditional Father and Son breakfast at Now Faith Christian Center once again brought out some heavy hitters as they shared their powerful testimonies and inspirational messages. One of the guest speakers, Milford D. Adams can count his blessings on the success he has achieved. Adams is managing broker and owner of Lyons Realty Group LLC in Denver. He has branches in Wichita, Tulsa and Bridgeport as well. He started his com- pany for $295.00 back in 1996. It wasn’t until after growing weary of working in corporate America, that Adams was motivated to start his real estate company. “They (corporate America) were downsizing and I've seen a lot of things that didn’t look right to me. So I said I want out and want to do my own thing. Be in a position to help a lot of people.” “When I see a need I go to work to see how I can make a difference and serving other people has blessed me to be able to do the things that I do.” Adams is also president of the orga- nization, Helping Everyone Achieve Life, that is part of the adopt -a- school pro- gram. The organization focuses on those school districts struggling and have stu- dents falling through the educational cracks. Also, Adams is involved in Raise the Work program that helps single mothers with transportation. These are single mothers who don’t have transportation and ride the bus or catch an Uber trying to go pick up their kids from school or daycare. “We find cars that no one wants anymore and have mechanics that will fix those cars up,” Adams explains. “We then have a system and contact these single moms to give them a car.” For more information regarding the different programs, Adams can be reached at 303-927-8898. Through his business, Adams doesn’t dismiss his duty to educate people in the community about the gentrification that's going on. If you get a notification that someone is buying you out, then someone already has requested the city to get zoning in that area for more likely a major development, he explains. “They are going to buy your prop- erty for cheap and sell it at a high dollar. If you partner with the devel- oper that comes in and they keep the mom and pop businesses and have homeowners stay in those communities, it makes the commu- nity very wealthy and healthy.” Robert Canti with ARSA INCO is launching his website later this month. His company is a consult- ing firm that teaches businesses to use their technology better. “If you are struggling with invoicing, strug- gling with taking mobile payments, point of sale systems or Wi-Fi con- nectivity, we can help you,” says Canti who was another young man involved in the business world and spoke at the Father and Son breakfast. Canti can be reached at 720-345-1315. Pastor Leon Emerson, senior pastor of Now Faith Christian Center says he has had the Father and Son breakfast for the past 25 years. “This is what we want to do in our community. So many negative things. I heard Jamal Bryan preach not too long ago and talk about those who influence our commu- nity and out of top 100 people there were no preachers. No preachers mentioned that influence our com- munities. And I said to myself that I have to keep my Father and Son breakfast going because I want to influence these young boys that the church is still important. My whole concern is that we let our light shine and these young men see that they need Jesus in their lives.” Men’s Day/ Father and Son Breakast I heard Jamal Bryan preach not too long ago and talk about those who influence our community and out of top 100 people there were no preachers.
