This multi-purpose / multi-use facility is composed of: a full-court gymnasium, commercial kitchen, banquet center, stage, choir rehearsal room, music library, chapel, meeting rooms, executive conference boardrooms, offices, an octagon-shaped prayer and meditation room, and friendly, courteous, customer-oriented service. EVENT CAPABILITIES THE NEW HOPE FAMILY LIFE CENTER is equipped with a state-of-the-art full commercial kitchen. This facility can provide general banquet seating for 450 people or 650 capacity seating for plays and concerts. A standing audience of 1,000 for an art or reception-type event can also be accommodated. The elegant décor not only provides a pleasant environment for dining, seminars, plays, or musicals, but the distributed sound system also provides a diverse, well-rounded, acoustically balanced environment for both vocal and musical performances. Meditation refocuses us from ourselves and from the world so that we reflect on God's Word, His nature, His abilities, and His works ... So we prayerfully ponder, muse, and 'chew' the words of Scripture ... The goal is simply to permit the Holy Spirit to activate the life- giving Word of God." Being fair and balance, a contempo- rary phrase in our society today, Dr. Paul Meier, a Christian psychiatrist, wrote in his book 'Renewing Your Mind in a Secular World:' "Man is a totally depraved being, possessing selfish and ultimately self-destructive thought patterns and behavior. Show me a natural man, untaught in God's principles and I'll show you a natural man who suffers from emotional pain. I'll show you a man who is uncon- sciously fighting and struggling for a sense of significance, using worldly way (e.g., sexual fantasy, materialism, power struggles, and prestige) in a vain attempt to attain bandaids on open flesh wounds, but not ultimate relief from man's inner awareness of his insignificance apart from God." Putting aside Meier's views, and expressing the perceptions of people who have investigated the benefits of meditation, the list includes the fol- lowing: ■ ■ Greater health. ■ ■ Control negative thinking. ■ ■ Maintain peace of mind. ■ ■ Create the life you want. ■ ■ More intimacy with God. ■ ■ Increase sensitivity to the Holy Spirit. ■ ■ Overcome habits and destructive behavior. Apostle Paul said in Philippians 4:8 fitting words for this article, before it ends, with respect to helpful things Christians should meditate about: "Finally, brethrens, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy-medi- tate on these things."
