7FEBRUARY 2016BODY OF CHRIST NEWS Lyle Lovett wrote the song Im A Soldier in the Army of the Lord. This song describes my journey from New Orleans LA to Fountain CO. It is about 1219 miles and thanks to the U.S. Army for its travel assignment we are here and here to stay It has truly been a journey with stops in Korea and Kosovo Germany Iraq Afghanistan and even the Blue Grass state of Kentucky. On each leg of the journey learn- ing sharing and growing in the knowledge of God. Each leg of the journey being preparation for my final assignment. When I raised my right hand and took the oath to join the Army all I had was my faith that God would cover me on this journey. After 24 years of service in the Army meeting the needs of others in the Logistics field Gods word and His work was always at the fore- front of my life. I arrived on this leg of the journey in June 2012 after a brief conversation with Pastor Emeritus James H. McMearn. A spiritual giant in his work the Lord spoke to Rev. McMearn via Duet 27 The Lord your God has blessed you in all the work of your hands. He has watched over your journey through this vast wilder- ness. These forty years the Lord your God has been with you and you have not lacked anything. Now as the Hippopotamus Happy and Elephant Glad Pastor of New Jerusalem Pastor Kevin T. Daniels Sr. is continuing in the work start- ed here and gaining ground for God. Each Sunday and wher- ever he is you can find him sharing the message of reconciliation love and peace helping mature every believer to a spiritual height so that the Kingdom might be magnified. The journey continues toward The Next Level. The Next Level Andre Hinton PASTOR PROFILE Battle of the Organs Proclaimed as the baddest organist player on YouTube and elsewhere Moses Tyson Jr. definitely showcased his talents for a worthy cause. The Stellar Award winning gospel organist performed during Battle of the Organs at the 1st Annual Cervical CancerHPV Awareness Campaign event on January 22 at Rising Star Missionary Baptist Church. Moses Tyson Jr. has performed with many gospel artist including on the Bobby Jones Gospel. I have a new music project out with Bishop Paul Morton titled First Cathedral he stated about his latest musical endeavors. However he is no stranger to Colorado and performed at different churches in Denver. No Doubt Moses Tyson Jr. was blessed with a gift considering his father was a pastor and mother was a pianist in the church. Gladys Brown Turnbough organizer thanks Rising Star Missionary Baptist Church for opening up their doors for this event. I wanted to do something musical because music heals Turnbough said. So I got together with Dr. Claudette Sweet and Dr. Sylvia Lowe who knew Moses Tyson Jr. Now it will become an annual event to raise awareness about cervical can- cer. No one talks about cervical cancer. A lot of women have lost relatives to cervical cancer. I decided to be the spokesperson and let everyone know that people women are dying from this Turnbough said. There is only a 30 percent sur- vival rate from having cervical cancer according to Turnbough because no symptoms are detected and the dis- ease spreads fast. Men can also get the cancerous HPV virus in the form of throat cancer or colorectal colon cancer. Others who performed during the cer- vical cancer awareness event at Rising Star included Bishop Charles Jackson Spirit of Grace Davis Johnson Sand Judah First Lagressa Munnerlyn Dr. Claudette Sweet and Dr. Sylvia Lowe. Percussionist Michael James per- formed with Moses Tyson Jr. Everyone is looking forward to next years event. As quoted by Dr. Martin Luther King Of all the forms of inequality injustice in healthcare is the most shocking and inhumane. No one talks about cervical cancer. A lot of women have lost relatives to cervical cancer. I decided to be the spokesperson and let everyone know that people women are dying from this.
