7MAY 2016BODY OF CHRIST NEWS Child Abuse Prevention Month President Ronald Reagan declared April to be Child Abuse Prevention Month with a presidential proclamation in 1983. Since then April has been a time to acknowledge the importance of families and communities working together to prevent child abuse. You may have seen Blue Silver pinwheels throughout your community during the month of April these pinwheels mark the lives touched by child- abuse. The Pinwheel is the national symbol for the great childhoods that many of us experienced. Hi Mom Im Home is an organization that with a grant from Denver Human Services provided educational information to help prevent Child Abuse and Neglect as well as a community party at the Friendship Baptist Church of Christ Jesus at 880 Fairfax Street Denver Colorado. Hi Mom Im Home severed over forty families with the grant the recurring theme is YES TO LOVE NO TO Child ABUSE. Over twenty chil- dren marched through the Mayfair Neighborhood repeating this theme. Sister Clara Harris pictured here in front on the far right is the founder of Hi Mom Im Home. Harris is working hand in hand with the Human Services Departments of Colorado to reunite families whose lives were dis- rupted by Foster Care. Harris is a foster Mother that has adopted children that were not able to be placed back with their families and she knows firsthand the challenges that all the parties involved are subject to her goal is the make the transition and the process simpler for the state and the families.
