Many people do not realize the power of words. Do you realize that the things you are speaking out of your mouth are setting the cornerstone of your life? Words deceive us. Words transmit. The words that you speak transmit faith or fear, so when we are talking about your spoken words, we are talking about things that are powerful.

You have heard people make statement like this; “stick or stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me.” Nothing could be further from the truth, Words can kill you. If you don’t know what you are doing with words, they will destroy you.
Words are powerful when released out of your mouth because they carry spiritual forces. Jesus said it this way:

John 6:63; “…the words that I speak to you, they are spirit, and they are life.”
You see, there is spirit life in the words that I speak. That is why it is important for us to agree with God, and to say what God says. When we talk about “confession,” we are talking about “agreeing with God.”

That is why it is very important for us to know what God says. There is creative power that is released inside you when you speak God’s word out of your mouth.
Joshua 1:8 says; “This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.”

Do you want to make your way prosperous? Put the word of God in your mouth.

Matthew 12:33-37
“Either make the tree good and its fruit good, or else make the tree bad and its fruit bad; for a tree is known by its fruit. 34 Brood of vipers! How can you, being evil, speak good things? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. 35 A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good things, and an evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth evil things. 36 But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment. 37 For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.” NKJV

Message Translation:
33 “If you grow a healthy tree, you’ll pick healthy fruit. If you grow a diseased tree, you’ll pick worm-eaten fruit. The fruit tells you about the tree. 34-37 “You have minds like a snake pit! How do you suppose what you say is worth anything when you are so foul-minded? It’s your heart, not the dictionary, that gives meaning to your words. A good person produces good deeds and words season after season. An evil person is a blight on the orchard. Let me tell you something: Every one of these careless words is going to come back to haunt you. There will be a time of Reckoning. Words are powerful; take them seriously. Words can be your salvation. Words can also be your damnation.”

Every time you speak, you reveal what is inside of you. You cannot have evil in you and speak good, also, you cannot have good thing in you and you speak evil. You are speaking what is in abundance inside of you. I can know what is inside you by the things that are coming out of your mouth.

I want you to notice verse 36; “But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the Day of Judgment;” the word “judgment” is not about judgment when Jesus comes. Now let us read it from the Message translation. : Every one of these careless words is going to come back to haunt you. There will be a time of Reckoning.

Matthew 13:10-11 say; “And the disciples came and said to Him, “Why do You speak to them in parables?” 11 He answered and said to them, “Because it has been given to you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it has not been given.”

Jesus is talking to His disciples here. He is talking to those who follow Him. Mysteries are hidden truths or things that are not comprehended naturally. They are these things that you cannot understand by just using the senses. Confession is one of those hidden truths that have been given to us to know. It is a mystery!

In the beginning, we are not made to say anything that we do not want to see come to pass. I other words, you were designed, like God, to say things and they are expected to come to pass. But after the fall, the enemy began to use our words to fight us.
We are talking about the “Law of Confession.” So what is a law? A law is a principle based on predictable circumstances of an act. It works the same way every time. For example the law of gravity; the law of floatation, etc. The law of confession works every time you use it. The reason we do not enjoy the benefit of this law is because many of us do not understand the principle behind this law.

You see, Jesus always confesses anything He wants to see come to pass. You too must confess what you want to see come to pass. No more crooked and perverse speech.
Proverbs 18:20-21 say; “A man’s stomach shall be satisfied from the fruit of his mouth; From the produce of his lips he shall be filled. Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it will eat its fruit.”

You can speak death or life into your life.

Hebrews 1:1-3 say: “God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, 2 has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds; 3 who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high,”

This is very important to me because Jesus is the heir; he has the access to all things. Now it gets better when I remember that I am joint-heir with Jesus. We own them all together.

Jesus is upholding by the Word of His power. God spoke a higher law from which all other scientific law take their ground. Upholding ALL THINGS.

John 6:63 says; “It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life.”

The Words I speak to you, they are Spirit, and they are life.”

Words are not just noise or sound; words are spirit. That is why when words are spoken to you they can go down into your spirit. You can speak death or you can speak life.
What you think are just noise are not just noise, but they are spirit and they are going to do something.

Psalm 141:3 says; “Set a guard, O LORD, over my mouth; Keep watch over the door of my lips.”

In the Old Testament, David could pray this prayer because he was not redeemed then. But in the New Testament, God teaches you how you could keep watch over the door of your lips.

Psalm 39:1 says; “I said, “I will guard my ways, Lest I sin with my tongue; I will restrain my mouth with a muzzle, While the wicked are before me.”
The wicked are demons waiting on your mouth, they are waiting on your conversation, because death and life are in the power of your mouth. They want to distract you so you begin to speak wrong thing. They want you to begin to say what God didn’t say.
Proverbs 30:32 says; “If you have been foolish in exalting yourself, Or if you have devised evil, put your hand on your mouth.”

You see the enemy is waiting for you to speak out that evil thing you have devised in your heart – He’s waiting to hear you say it. But God say; “Put your hand on your mouth.”
Ephesians 4:29 says; “Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers.”

God wants you to speak words that will build up and not tear down.

Job got himself into trouble because of his mouth. Be careful not to get yourself into trouble because of your mouth.

Job 6: 23-24 say; “Or, ‘Deliver me from the enemy’s hand’? Or, ‘Redeem me from the hand of oppressors’? 24 “Teach me, and I will hold my tongue; Cause me to understand wherein I have erred.”

Job’s mouth got him into trouble. Positive thinking alone will not do the job, but you need to speak what God says; It is what you say out of your mouth that will save you.

Mark 5: 22-42 say; “And behold, one of the rulers of the synagogue came, Jairus by name. And when he saw Him, he fell at His feet 23 and begged Him earnestly, saying, “My little daughter lies at the point of death. Come and lay Your hands on her, that she may be healed, and she will live.” 24 So Jesus went with him, and a great multitude followed Him and thronged Him. 25 Now a certain woman had a flow of blood for twelve years, 26 and had suffered many things from many physicians. She had spent all that she had and was no better, but rather grew worse. 27 When she heard about Jesus, she came behind Him in the crowd and touched His garment. 28 For she said, “If only I may touch His clothes, I shall be made well.” 29 Immediately the fountain of her blood was dried up, and she felt in her body that she was healed of the affliction. 30 And Jesus, immediately knowing in Himself that power had gone out of Him, turned around in the crowd and said, “Who touched My clothes?” 31 But His disciples said to Him, “You see the multitude thronging You, and You say, ‘Who touched Me?’” 32 And He looked around to see her who had done this thing. 33 But the woman, fearing and trembling, knowing what had happened to her, came and fell down before Him and told Him the whole truth. 34 And He said to her, “Daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in peace, and be healed of your affliction.” 35 While He was still speaking, some came from the ruler of the synagogue’s house who said, “Your daughter is dead. Why trouble the Teacher any further?” 36 As soon as Jesus heard the word that was spoken, He said to the ruler of the synagogue, “Do not be afraid; only believe.” 37 And He permitted no one to follow Him except Peter, James, and John the brother of James. 38 Then He came to the house of the ruler of the synagogue, and saw a tumult and those who wept and wailed loudly. 39 When He came in, He said to them, “Why make this commotion and weep? The child is not dead, but sleeping.” 40 And they ridiculed Him. But when He had put them all outside, He took the father and the mother of the child, and those who were with Him, and entered where the child was lying. 41 Then He took the child by the hand, and said to her, “Talitha, cumi,” which is translated, “Little girl, I say to you, arise.” 42 Immediately the girl arose and walked, for she was twelve years of age. And they were overcome with great amazement.

Jairus asked Jesus to come to his house, later after walking with Jesus for sometime, some people came and told him that his daughter was dead. When Jesus heard what they said, He quickly encouraged the man not to be afraid only believe.

When you’re going through something, the devil will send people your way to let you change your confession. But hold your peace and do not repeat what the enemy wants you to say.

Look at what Jesus did?

1. He did not permit the doubter to follow Him.
2. When He got to the house of Jairus, He maintained His confession despite the commotion. “The child is not dead, but sleeping. I don’t care what you may be thinking about this, but my vision is not dead, my marriage is not dead, my business is not dead. You cannot make me give up on my miracle, my miracle is alive!
3. He refused to let the opinion of others about Him changed His confession. They ridiculed Him, yet He never backed down.
4. He put the mockers and the doubters outside. “But when He had put them all outside” Tell your neighbor; “Put them all outside!” It is good that they leave you, if they do not leave you, they would have made you to give up on your dream, they would have made you to give up on your vision. Let them go!
5. He spoke and confessed what He wanted to see into being. “Then He took the child by the hand, and said to her, “Talitha, cumi,” which is translated, “Little girl, I say to you, arise.” Begin to speak and confess to your vision, to your business, to your health, to that child of yours, to that relationship others say you should give up. Begin to confess your future now!

You need somebody around you that will call you to task. When you say what God does not say, the person will hold you accountable and remind you what you need to say. Don’t be mad at them, because you are on your way to the top.

Christianity is called the great confession. You’ve got to say what God says. Persecution may come because of your confession, but you will say, I know what God says, and I will not be moved by what the Doctor says, because I know that “By His stripes, I am healed…”
