The Secret Weapons of Prayer
Proverbs 4:18; “But the path of the just is like the shining sun, That shines ever brighter unto the perfect day.”Isaiah 43:18-19; “Do not remember the former things, Nor consider the things of old. 19 Behold, I will do a new thing, Now it shall spring forth; Shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness And rivers in the desert.”
God is doing a new thing. Every month is designed to bring new thing into your life.Revelation 22:1-2: “And he showed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding from the throne of God and of the Lamb. In the middle of its street, and on either side of the river, was the tree of life, which bore twelve fruits, each tree yielding its fruit every month. The leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.”
Matthew 6:10 says; “Your kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.”
Whatever is taking place in heaven is meant to be repeated here on earth. We have twelve months in a year. The tree of life brings fruits and as you can see it brings twelve fruits which means every month there is a new fruit for you and I to enjoy. The month of April, the tree of life will yield to you the fruit of “Divine Insight”; it will yield to you the fruit of “Divine Secrets” in the name of Jesus! The month of April will bring to you solution to the problems that have been confronting you. Every misery will be solved in the month of April in the name of Jesus! Financial mystery, health mystery, job mystery etc; will be solved in the month of April because of divine insight that you will receive in the name of Jesus!
Deuteronomy 29:29; “The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but those things which are revealed belonged to us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law.”
You see, life is full of secrets and until you get the revelation of the secrets of life you will be running the race of life with great struggle. However, there are those things that are revealed, this month you will find them out in the name of Jesus!
That is why you must come to the Bible study. If you want to see your life to take a new dimension of sweatless victory then you must be well informed on the ways of God so that you know how the manufacturer (God) designed the world to be enjoyed. Please stop enduring life, start to enjoy life. You see many Christians are enduring life, hoping that tomorrow will be better. But remember that your tomorrow begins today.
Starting today, we are embarking on a journey that will turn our life around. We are starting a week of fasting and prayer. Therefore this morning I want to talk to you on the subject of “The Secret Weapons of Prayer”.
No man or woman can go places with God without the instrument of prayer. Prayer is a force that changes the unchangeable. It is the force that man uses to access the secrets of the enemy; it is the key that man uses to access the strategies that heaven uses to govern the earth.
If you want to be a master on the earth then you must master the art of prayer. Learning how to pray effectively is one of the most important things a believer can ever do in his Christian walk. No one can successfully fulfill God’s purpose in his/her life if he/she does not know how to pray according to biblical principles.
Prayer is one of the capital conditions to access the higher dimension of glory.
Luke 9:28-35 we saw Jesus on the transfiguration mountain with Peter, James and John. Verse 29 says; “As He prayed, the appearance of His face was altered, and His robe became white and glistening.”
Jesus prayed Himself into a higher realm. Prayer is the instrument God uses to translate man into the supernatural. As Jesus prayed, He countenance was altered and the people around Him saw His glory. There is a glory hidden in you that only through effectual prayer can it be revealed and be evident to people around you.
Prayer is the force that reverses the irreversible. No matter the verdict against you, God can change it through the weapon of prayer.
John 11:39-43 we saw Jesus at the tomb of Lazarus who had been dead for four days. Jesus said in verse 39; “Take away the stone” Martha the sister of Lazarus said; Lord, by this time there is a stench, for he has been dead four days.” In other words Master, the situation is beyond redemption, he is stinking by now because decomposition is already taking place. It is irreversible now.
In verse 40, Jesus said “Did I not say to you that if you would believe you would see the glory of God?”
Then Jesus used the force of prayer to bring back to life the man who has been dead for four days.
39Jesus said, Take ye away the stone. Martha, the sister of him that was dead, saith unto him, Lord, by this time he stinketh: for he hath been dead four days. 40Jesus saith unto her, Said I not unto thee, that, if thou wouldest believe, thou shouldest see the glory of God? 41Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead was laid. And Jesus lifted up his eyes, and said, Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me. 42And I knew that thou hearest me always: but because of the people which stand by I said it, that they may believe that thou hast sent me. 43And when he thus had spoken, he cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come forth. 44And he that was dead came forth, bound hand and foot with grave clothes: and his face was bound about with a napkin. Jesus saith unto them, Loose him, and let him go. (KJV)
Jesus prayed, He said; “Father I thank thee that thou hast heard me…” There is no irreversible case with God, all we have to do is to go to God in prayer.
In 2 Kings 4:32-36, we read about the Shunammite woman’s son who died and Elisha the prophet used the weapon of prayer to humiliate death.
When Elisha came into the house, there was the child, lying dead on his bed. 33 He went in therefore, shut the door behind the two of them, and prayed to the LORD. 34 And he went up and lay on the child, and put his mouth on his mouth, his eyes on his eyes, and his hands on his hands; and he stretched himself out on the child, and the flesh of the child became warm. 35 He returned and walked back and forth in the house, and again went up and stretched himself out on him; then the child sneezed seven times, and the child opened his eyes. 36 And he called Gehazi and said, “Call this Shunammite woman.” So he called her. And when she came in to him, he said, “Pick up your son.”
Elisha prayed, and the boy came back to life. God is going to answer you too as you pray during this time of special fasting and prayer in the name of Jesus!
In Isaiah 38:1-5:
“In those days Hezekiah was sick and near death. And Isaiah the prophet, the son of Amoz, went to him and said to him, “Thus says the LORD: ‘Set your house in order, for you shall die and not live.’” 2 Then Hezekiah turned his face toward the wall, and prayed to the LORD, 3 and said, “Remember now, O LORD, I pray, how I have walked before You in truth and with a loyal heart, and have done what is good in Your sight.” And Hezekiah wept bitterly. 4 And the word of the LORD came to Isaiah, saying, 5 “Go and tell Hezekiah, ‘Thus says the LORD, the God of David your father: “I have heard your prayer, I have seen your tears; surely I will add to your days fifteen years.
Hezekiah used the instrument of prayer to make God change the verdict of heaven concerning his life. The Lord sent the same prophet Isaiah back to him and added fifteen more years to Hezekiah’s life.
No matter the verdict of man against you, if God can change His verdict against Hezekiah through the force of prayer, He will cancel every verdict contrary to your peace in the name of Jesus! There is no impossible case with God. Yours will not be impossible!
Acts 9:36-41,
At Joppa there was a certain disciple named Tabitha, which is translated Dorcas. This woman was full of good works and charitable deeds which she did. 37 But it happened in those days that she became sick and died. When they had washed her, they laid her in an upper room. 38 And since Lydda was near Joppa, and the disciples had heard that Peter was there, they sent two men to him, imploring him not to delay in coming to them. 39 Then Peter arose and went with them. When he had come, they brought him to the upper room. And all the widows stood by him weeping, showing the tunics and garments which Dorcas had made while she was with them. 40 But Peter put them all out, and knelt down and prayed. And turning to the body he said, “Tabitha, arise.” And she opened her eyes, and when she saw Peter she sat up. 41 Then he gave her his hand and lifted her up; and when he had called the saints and widows, he presented her alive.
Here again we see Peter used the weapon of prayer to bring back to life Dorcas who had been dead.
40 But Peter put them all out, and knelt down and prayed. And turning to the body he said, “Tabitha, arise.” And she opened her eyes…”
James 4:2-3
2Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not. 3Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts. (KJV)
Not all prayers are entitled to answers. There is praying aright and there is praying amiss. So many times we are not definite in our praying. It is better to pray two or three minutes and know what you are praying about than to pray for two or three hours and not know what you are praying about.
There is a kind of prayer whereby we pray to have fellowship with God. But I am talking about praying to God specifically in order to receive an answer to prayer. If we are not careful, prayer to have fellowship with God will spill over into the realm of praying specifically in order to receive an answer.
Whenever you are praying decide what you want from God and find the scripture or scriptures that definitely promise you these things. Too few Christians realize the importance of the Word of God in prayer. We know that faith begins where the will of God is known. And we know that God’s Word is His will. So find scriptures that definitely promise the things you are asking for. If the Scriptures don’t promise you the things you are desiring, you don’t have any business praying for those things. And you shouldn’t want anything that the Word of God says you shouldn’t have.
Prayer is not what you do occasionally, it is not something you do when you feel like doing it. You must pray without ceasing.
Luke 18:1-8
Then He spoke a parable to them, that men always ought to pray and not lose heart, 2 saying: “There was in a certain city a judge who did not fear God nor regard man. 3 Now there was a widow in that city; and she came to him, saying, ‘Get justice for me from my adversary.’ 4 And he would not for a while; but afterward he said within himself, ‘Though I do not fear God nor regard man, 5 yet because this widow troubles me I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me.’” 6 Then the Lord said, “Hear what the unjust judge said. 7 And shall God not avenge His own elect who cry out day and night to Him, though He bears long with them? 8 I tell you that He will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will He really find faith on the earth?”
We are called to pray without ceasing. Do not quit praying just because you have not received your answer. Keep praying until you get your answer.
WHY MUST WE PRAY?
- Prayer makes “Divine Help” available. Every branch of a tree needs the roots to survive. Jesus is the root of David and we are the branches. We need His help to retain our color.
- Hebrew 4:16 says; “Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.” The word “help” is also the same as the word “favor”. WE all need God’s help. Help is available to those who pray.
- Prayer makes “Divine Secret” available. Without divine secret success is impossible and if at all it is with pain and struggle.
Divine secret makes Job an outstanding man in his time. Job 29:4-11 says; “As I was in the days of my youth, when the secret of God was upon my tabernacle; 5When the Almighty was yet with me, when my children were about me; 6When I washed my steps with butter, and the rock poured me out rivers of oil; 7When I went out to the gate through the city, when I prepared my seat in the street! 8The young men saw me, and hid themselves: and the aged arose, and stood up. 9The princes refrained talking, and laid their hand on their mouth. 10The nobles held their peace, and their tongue cleaved to the roof of their mouth. 11When the ear heard me, then it blessed me; and when the eye saw me, it gave witness to me: (KJV).
Divine secret made Daniel a success in a strange land. Daniel 2:16-19; “So Daniel went in and asked the king to give him time, that he might tell the king the interpretation. 17 Then Daniel went to his house, and made the decision known to Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, his companions, 18 that they might seek mercies from the God of heaven concerning this secret, so that Daniel and his companions might not perish with the rest of the wise men of Babylon. 19 Then the secret was revealed to Daniel in a night vision. So Daniel blessed the God of heaven.”
Deuteronomy 29:29 says; ““The secret things belong to the LORD our God, but those things which are revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law.”
God is the custodian of all secrets and we can only get the secret through prayer.
