Are You Wrestling with God?
Do you remember the story of Jacob?
Jacob didn’t realize it, but he was setting himself up for a divine confrontation. (Genesis 32:24-28) “Then Jacob was left alone; and a Man wrestled with him until the breaking of day. (25) Now when He saw that He did not prevail against him, He touched the socket of his hip; and the socket of Jacob’s hip was out of joint as He wrestled with him. (26) And He said, “Let me go, for the day breaks.” But he said, “I will not let You go unless You bless me!”(27)So He said to him, “What is your name” he said, “Jacob.” (28)And He said, “Your name shall no longer be called Jacob, but Israel; for you have struggled with God and with men and have prevailed.”
When you wrestle with God, you’re headed for an awakening – because God’s got your leg! Jacob refused to let go until he got his blessing, but he realized who he really was in the process. If you belong to God, and you think that you can do anything on your own terms, think again. God’s got your leg! Hold on until you come to terms with yourself, and God will bless you. Now you have a “limp” that give you power with God and man.
If you are dealing with difficult situations and you’re not limping, you might be off schedule with God. You might be building a new church, but for reasons you can’t explain the money didn’t come in as you planned. Everything may have been going well at home, and them suddenly one of the children became ill. Remember Jacob. He was on his way home when his situation with Esau hit him right between the eyes. Then after doing everything in his own strength to avoid a confrontation with Esau, Jacob found himself alone with God…and that’s where he saw God’s face. That’s where God had ordained for Jacob to step into his destiny.
When I think of what Genesis said; …. “And He blessed him there, where he started limping.” That was the place where God changed Jacob’s name to Israel. Just a thought … don’t complain about your “there” your “there is a place of blessing the place where He prepares you to go to your next level. When your “there” He will step you into your next level of destiny.
The beauty of our limp is God will let you take the first step in your own strength, and then you’ll need Him to take the next step. When you have no strength and have to lean on God or fall flat on your face, you have a limp. Too many believers are limping around looking to others for help instead of God, and it draws attention to the fact that they need to get back in His presence. If God has given you a “limp,” He has brought you to the place where you are able to go where He wants you to go. The anointing breaks the yoke of the enemy as you follow Him. You can go back into difficult situations and let God use you to turn them around for His glory!
