Date: July 13th, 2019 at 4pm Place: Shorter AME, 3100 Richard Allen Ct., Denver OBITUARY Mrs. Ella Lou Guillory went home to be with our Father on June 15, 2019. Ella was born in a small town in Louisiana called Chataignier on January 8, 1935, to the parentage of Frank and Gussie Issac. She accept- ed Christ and was baptized at a very young age. Ella absolutely loved her children and her entire family. She was very close to her siblings. Her siblings will all agree that she was her Mother’s baby girl and was spoiled by not only her Mother, but her entire family. The spoiling didn’t stop with her. Ella also spoiled everyone in her life. If you knew her at all, you knew that she was a Prayer Warrior! She was also the best listener, that is after she told you what she had to tell you in that sweet voice of hers. The love she had for our Heavenly Father was so evident in everything she did. The most important thing to Ella was liv- ing for Christ and making sure she always gave God all the Glory. Ella loved good food! And we all know she was one of the Best Cooks in the world. Her cooking was a labor of love. She was a Charter Member of Emmanuel Missionary Baptist Church, and was still a choir mem- ber. Ella loved her church family and honored and supported her Pastor. You better not talk about her church or her Pastor. She also was a mem- ber of the Western State Women’s Auxiliary and the Southern District Women’s Auxiliary for over 50 years. She treasured her time with the sis- ters of the Auxiliary. She was preceded in death by her husband, Vincent Guillory; son, Vincent Guillory, Jr.; and her parents Frank and Gussie Issac. Mrs. Guillory is survived by her daughters, Sandra Gerstberger and Suzy Chipman; and her sons, Stanley Guillory and Kennedy Guillory; sons-in-law, William Gerstberger and Michael Chipman; daughters-in-law, Melinda Guillory and Debborha Guillory, wife of Vincent Guillory Jr.; sisters, Sola Latour and Nola Gallow; brother, Roger Issac; sis- ter-in-law, Syvonia Issac; grandchil- dren, Joshua Guillory, Christopher Guillory, Cullen Bryant, Jr., Brandon Bryant, Brieanna Bryant, Chase Page, Janelle Guillory, Kendal Guillory, and Issac Guillory; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, adopted children and friends. Officiating the ser- vice was her pas- tor; Rev. Cleveland Thompson on Friday, June 22, 2019, at Emmanuel Missionary Baptist Church,(north cam- pus) 3615 Vickers Drive, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80918. It was truly a fire filled Holy Ghost home going service! Ella Lou Guillory, January 8, 1935 – June 15, 2019 Who is Teaching our Children? It's becoming harder and harder to deal with white supremacists in the form of liberals, educating children of color. Their contrasting, dominating and district-approved approach to educating our children with blatant disregard on communicating with the parents, community or elders on the best practices for our children is hav- ing a profoundly negative impact on me. So then what is the value for teach- ers of color if you cannot teach from your heart? If you cannot teach from a culturally competent, authentic and genuine lens to your own people with- out code switching every few minutes for the comfort of white teachers?  Having to watch our natural tone, our natural deliverance, our natural cadence that we communicate with each other. Our natural body pos- ture and positioning is aggressive and threatening to them in our own communities. this is why America's schools have so little black male and female teacher's. What is our value in our schools? In our own communities? In white communities whites teach white children. They would never allow their communities to be satu- rated, infested and educated predom- inately by teachers of color. Infusing their communities and their children with our ideologies, beliefs, morals, values. It can't and will never be the reverse. In communities of color whites teach children of color. while having lunch in the teachers lounge, a white female liberal teacher came up to my table and informed me that she was for the black struggle, therefore she would never tell a black boy to pull up his pants stating that , that would be oppressive! A notable black minister once said, "You must be a damn fool to allow your enemy to educate your children and think that they would teach them with equality and without racist infe- rior intent." COMMUNITY By Ali Jackson In white communities whites teach white children.
