10BODYOFCHRISTNEWSJULY2012ingtothisdayMackSr.pointedoutthatstateandcitygovernmentshavemuchworktodo.Duetothemagni-tudeoftheproblemhesaysthatfed-eralgovernmentinspectorsmayneedtoonceagainperformauditsoncon-tractualstatisticaldatamonitoringagenciesastheydidduringthecivilrightserasothatstateandcitygovern-mentscannolongercovertheirtrackswhentheyexcludeAfrican-Americanbusinessesfromsecuringcontracts.Currentnumbersregardingblackcon-tractsareunacceptable-Coloradostillhaslessthan1ofAfricanAmericansparticipatinginColoradoDepartmentofTransportationprojects.Thismeanstherearenoprofessionalblackcompaniesthathavetheabilitytopar-ticipateintheColoradoDepartmentofTransportationx19sprojects.x1cThisdisparityisintentionalWemustbehonestaboutthisifwewanttocleanupthisissueandfixthisbehavior.Itcannolongerbelookedatasacciden-tal-itisintentionalx1dassertsMackSr.Itwasalsodiscoveredthatfederalgovernmentagenciescleaneduptwogovernmentsitesintwoyearswherebyover300illegalpartieswereworkingonthesesitesyetblackunemploy-mentratesremainthehighestx13notonlyinthecityofDenverbutintheentirestateofColoradoaswell.MackSr.acknowledgedthattheproblemwillnotberesolvedrightawayinsteadstepsmustbetakentoovercomethisinstitutionalizedprob-lem.Hesaysthatfirstwemusttakeaseriouslookatpreviousadminis-trationssinceinthepast15yearsinAuroraDenverandsurroundingcountiestheblackbusinessclosureratehasbeen101versustheirwhitecounterparts.ThisisappallingandshouldconcernourlocalstateandfederalleadershipsincesuchclosureratesaffectthetaxbaseofallthecitizensofColorado.x1cAccidentsaresporadicbuttheseproblemsshowahistoricalpatternthatisidentifiableaspurposefulx1dhesaid.MackSr.citedforexamplethatblackpeoplearethenumberoneconsumersintheworldspendingbetween38to40oftheGNPwhilebeingonly16ofthepopulace-whichmeanswereallymakeadifferenceinthetaxstructureofthiscountryandwearenotrespect-edforthisWehavemoreobstaclesanddiscriminationthananyothercitizensandthisimbalancemustnotbeallowedtocontinue.Inordertobegintheprocesstosup-portandbolsterBlackbusinessesinColoradoMackSr.suggeststhatblackbusinesspeoplebegintoexhibitsmartbehaviorssuchasaligningthemselveswithbusinessassociationswhichhelptopushsmallerbusinessesaswellasblackbusinessesforward.Hewasalsoadamantthatblackentrepreneursandbusinesspersonsstopthebiggestpieceofthisproblemx13DISCRIMINATIONAGAINSTOURSELVES.Blackbusi-nesspersonsmustnotcontinuetodisengageotherblackcompaniesandbusinesspersonslookingoutonlyforthemselvestofurthertheirownobjec-tives.African-Americanbusinessper-sonsmustrefusetoturntheirbacksontheirfellowblackbusinessownersoncetheyhavebeenhiredbylargecompanies.T.H.MackSr.canbecontactedbyemailAmeriBuildq.comoffice720-445-6302.DISPARITY...frompage9
