Let's say you paid their rent or gave them a ride; you may have loaned them a car when theirs broke down. When your love mus- cle is under- developed you'll desire to bless people, but be hurt when they don't bless you in return. But when love is your motive you will bless people and release them to God. The Holy Ghost said, “Watch the hand that blesses you, because there is a motive that's working that arm.” Gifts without love lead to bondage. We would be in big trouble if Jesus has gotten angry after he died on the cross and we didn't love him back. If fact we probably won't be here today. 1 John 4:8 says, “He who does not love has not become acquainted with God (does not and never did know Him), for God is love.” How can you truly love others if you don't have God? If God is love and you don't have love, then the thing you are calling love is a man-made imitation. Satan lived with God long enough to be able to imitate HIS char- acter. He knows how to imitate God's love, as long as there is agreement between both parties. But the minute one person does something the other person doesn't like, that's when the imitation is revealed. Please read 1 Corinthians 13 in your spare time. God's love is based on His covenant with us. Covenant love says, “I will, even if you won't.” Think about it. Even when we mess up, God still loves us. Now think about the people you deal with on a daily basis. Each represents an opportunity for you to grow in the “fruit of the Spirit.” As we let the Holy Spirit develop love, joy, peace, patience, and the other five facets in us, we are able to recognize the value of the “weights” God allows in our lives. You'll never develop the “fruit of the Spirit” unless God allows some challenges (opportunities) to come your way. So keep loving and seeking God, and let the Holy Spirit develop your “love muscle.” Trust Him, obey His leadership, and HE will accomplish HIS work in you. This is the time of year we celebrate the resurrec- tion of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He loved us soooo much that he died on Calvary for you and me, we truly weren't worth it. Oh what a love! It's time for us to stop being so selfish and full of pride. And if we can help somebody along the way, let it be because we want to show the reflection of Christ in our lives, and not be puffed up, love does not brag or become arrogant. You simply want to love others as Christ has loved us, without a motive. “Heavenly Father, If I had a thou- sand tongues, I could never thank you enough for loving me so much that you sent your only begotten son to die on the cross for me. But I can try to live a little more righteous and Holy according to your Word each and everyday. Thank you Lord for loving me. Amen By Dr. PM Wynn Grove Rev.
