A Gift of Life is Color Blind

Gwen McNair-Reilly, a member of Family of Christ Church, where Senior Pastor Albert Anderson presides, is grateful for the gift of a kidney. She had been on a donor list for almost five years. During the pregnancy of her now ten-year-old son, she had toxemia, which is preclancia and causes high blood pressure, which later caused her kidneys to fail. (more…)

CCI Parents Challenge DPS

EDITOR:
On May 4, 2009 we the concerned parents of Challenges, Choices and Images/Amandla charter school sent a letter to DPS regarding the closing of the school and issues surrounding that closing that were very troublesome and left over 400 students without a school. We sent a copy of the letter to Colorado Governor Bill Ritter and Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper. To date we have yet to receive any response or acknowledgement of our letter from any of the parties mentioned above. (more…)

Black Boys Don’t Cry

Ali Jackson is currently working on a documentary called Black Boys Don’t Cry that has been in the making for since 2003. The film is subtitled The Untold Truth because statistics show that less than 1% of sexual assaults on black boys are reported. Jackson asks all of us, but black males in particular, “If I don’t speak out for our children, who will?” (more…)

EDITOR’S NOTE: The Body of Christ News spoke with Rev. Dr. Ade Ajala from Kingdom Connection Christian Center. He is originally from Nigeria and has been in America for 14 years. Rev. Ajala has interest in building connections between Africans and African-Americans. He wants African-American families to be sponsored by families in Africa to begin business ventures and tap into resources.
