b'the building burned to the ground during a storm. In the miraculous aftermath, the Denver Post published a pho-tograph of Pastor Porter in front of the rubble with three crosses standing in the background, though the church had no crosses in the building. Devastated by this loss, the church shared worship space with a church at 9th and Kalamath for a period of time. Because of Pastor Porters faith and Mother Porters prayers, the church subsequent-ly purchased a 2000-seat building at 9th and Acoma that waspreviouslyownedbyrenownedevangelistKathryn Kuhlman.Manyrenownedsingers, speakers, pastors, and evangelists came and ministered in that place. That site was the end of the West Denver leg of their ministry journey.HIS LEGACYBrethren, I count not myself to have apprehended; but onethingIdo,forgettingthosethingswhicharebehind and reaching forward to things which are before us, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling in Christ Jesus.Philippians 3:13-14In 1983, in the midst of opposition and under the unc-tion of the Holy Spirit, All Nations Church of God In Christ moved to 2001 Jamaica in Aurora, CO. While there,Elder Porter became a District Superintendent for Colorado and founded the Pentecostal District. His thirst for education and love for youth, led to the establishment of All Nations Christian Academy for grades K-8. All Nations experienced the greatest growth in its ministry with 1500 members at its peak.In the community, he organized a sit-in protest against Auroras refusal to acknowledge the Martin Luther King, Jr. birthday and fought for the establishment of the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday. From that effort, he was invited tojoinmultiplecivilrightsefforts, oneofwhichbeing Concerned Citizens About Minorities in Aurora (CCAMA). CCAMAs mission empowered and demanded the diversity initiatives in Aurora to increase the presence of Black and other minorities in school and government leadership.Through all of his community work and family obliga-tions,ElderPortermaintainedhislongingtobecomea bishop in the Church of God in Christ. He realized that dreamin1991whenBishopLouisHenryFordconse-crated him to the office of Bishop for the Jurisdiction of Montana. In 1993, Bishop Porter was called to serve on the board of the C.H. Mason Seminary in Atlanta, GA. Also in 1993, Bishop Porter was elected Vice Chairman of Promise Keepers. He became Chairman of the Board in 1994. The magnitude of these commitments led him to the decision to appoint his son Dr. Arthur Porter as Operating Pastor of All Nations Church in 2000. This move allowed him to devote more time to cultivating the growth of both Promise Keepers and the Jurisdiction of Montana. He continued to serve on the board of the seminary until his death. At the conclusion of his work at Promise Keepers, Bishop Porter continued his ministry with All Nations in a move to 5475 Peoria Street as well as in other locations. Always having a shepherds heart and realizing the needs in the community, he re-established pastoral ministry. His work at that time included Colorado Cotillion Beautillion, prayer and home visits for the elderly, conducting youth fairs on the grounds of the church, and pastoring young pastors. The abundant fruit of Bishop Porters labor will continue to produce for many years to come. The Life of Bishop Porter was full of enriching moments, challenges, and triumphs that could not all be captured here.
