6 BOCNEWS.com JANUARY 2019 Music Consultation with Minister Lawerence Minister Steve Lawrence is in the house. The for- mer executive director of music at the Potter House in Dallas under the ministry of Bishop T. D. Jakes is bringing his talents and musical expertise to Colorado. He is a native of Washington D.C. and one of 10 children born to his parents. In 1997, he pursued his degree at the University of Maryland College Park and participated in a five day workshop at the Potter’s House in Dallas. He said the workshop turned into three weeks and then that turned into 13 years working at the Potter’s House. He recently came to the Restoration Christian Center in Aurora, Colo. as a music consultant. “Once I stepped down as music director at the Potter’s House, I went out to become a full time music consultant. What that is is a person who comes in to act as a liaison for ministers of music across the nation. Many pastors go across the nation to get concepts and ideas of what they want to do new with their church. Then they come back and implement these ideas,” explains Lawrence. “But those people who are part of the staff don’t understand and don’t know how to get there. Because they have not seen the promised land and don’t know how to get there. I found out there is a language barrier between the administrative and the creative. As the music consul- tant, I come in and get the vision of the pastor and then work with the minister of music to help put beat to the vision the pastor has set for that house.” Lawrence did work at the Potter’s House of Denver as well before making his major transition of traveling and working with churches across the country. His focus now is working with Rev. Felix Gilbert at Restoration Christian Fellowship and helping the pastor revamp the infrastructure of the church’s music and fine arts ministry. As they have established a partnership, Lawrence and Rev. Gilbert are also looking to launch a night of worship in the city of Denver, where worship lead- ers, singers and musicians get together. “The idea is just to come together for a night without an ulterior motive, enjoy god’s presence, worship and have inter- session,” Lawrence said. For those looking for Lawrence’s services can go to his social media instagram page--SteveLawrence00@ instagram or bristelmusic@yahoo.com. According to Lawrence, he would love to connect and help other ministers across the front range. “ Colorado is a good place to get some things started. I heard it’s tough to start a church here, kind of tough to gather people together. I believe that when your teaching is appropriate and that you follow in the directive of the King and not just coming up with a good idea and good concept, but do that what God has designed you to do, then you are guaranteed success.” PROFILE cent development in the Jewish Culture. What does the acknowledgement mean? The boy at age 13 and the girl at age 12 have entered into puberty, and so, the capacity to be morally responsible for themselves. This age of accountability occurs, just when we are able to bear children. The mother of Christ wed as a teen and had a baby as a teen, early teen. Permit me to simplify things as follows. Our teenagers are not abnormal or immoral because they have sexual cravings as early as 12 and 13. What we should teach them is that while these cravings are natural, it is not expedient to act on them. The key is to teach them how to manage these cravings without feeling that the cravings are wrong, without experiencing guilt because they occur. Their cravings are Biblically based and are to be managed in accordance with the rules for the 21st century. We want them to know that there is noth- ing wrong with what you are feeling. However, in this day and time, it is easier to manage the cravings in accordance with the rules of society. Look at it as potty training our children. We do not teach them it is wrong to release waste. We teach them that there is a time and a place. Because they are not ashamed of a natural need, they are able to own the need and manage it in socially appropriate ways. We are supposed to be fruitful and multiply. Our bodies let us know that early in life. The key is to attain this goal in accordance with what is expedient, helpful, and beneficial. It is called decent and orderly. Decent has nothing to do with morals in this case but expediency. The male and female part of Adam felt the same cravings as we did, and as our children do. When we feel these cravings, WE ARE IN GOOD COMPANY. FRUITFUL ... from page 2
