People change, cities change, as does the politics and elected officials. Mr. Groves never thought he would live to see the first black man elected as president of the United States - Barack Obama. He was impressed with Wellington Webb, who served as the first elected black mayor of Denver. He stated the current Mayor Michael Hancock is doing his best, but as he puts it, “Comes up a dol- lar short” and seems to be late on doing things. He also doesn’t hesitate to say parents need to take care of their children and guide them in the right direction, especially boys. And those parents who go to church, their children will go to church and be trained right. “It's a miracle, I got this far in life and stayed out of trouble,” he said considering how he pretty much raised himself as God looked on to make sure he turned out okay.
