This year’s theme is “It’s Your Move” and will be held at the Park Hill Golf Club, located at 4141 E. 35th Avenue, Denver. Our Father and Son Breakfast was birthed in the late 80s. Since then, I have been blessed to collaborate with Pastors and community agencies to inspire thousands of men to become leaders in their communities, professions and churches. My goal is to impact one mil- lion men to know Christ. This Father's Day weekend event has been a staple in the Greater Metropolitan Denver community for over 20 years. If you want to fellowship with like- minded men who know their posi- tion in God is to be Kings, according to Revelation 1:6, you don’t want to miss this event! As a Pastor, one of my desires is to unite, inspire, empower and encourage men. At this event men will be reminded of their value and their God-given purpose! Each year, the breakfast gets better and better! This year we expect nothing less, as the event will be packed with incred- ible speakers, prize giveaways, valu- able resources, and entrepreneurial and career opportunities. Our keynote speaker is Mareese Comer, a young Black entrepreneur, business man, and author of the book, “Bawlin’ Out of Control”. He will share a powerful, moti- vational message about his roadmap to success that will inspire attend- ees to believe that they too, can be successful at anything with focus, commit- ment and hard work. It promises to be a posi- tive environment full of men and young men encourag- ing one another. We want you to be a part of this com- munity event. Attendance at this event is FREE, however, we are requesting a donation and/or that you purchase raffle tickets to help offset the cost. Our raffle grand prize is a new XBox One S! Thank you for your Leadership Our Mayor accomplished so many notable and sustainable projects during his watch. I first met him in the late 70”s when I was fresh from the plains of Wyoming and had been appointed to the Human Relations Commission. I was not yet a city employee. Mayor Hogan was a champion for civil and human rights and provided support for the HRC whose job was to ensure that civil and human rights were more that an ideology, and thus our connection and friendship. Our Mayor was a conductor who led us through growth and change and com- forted us in times of tragedy. In 1985 Gov Richard Lamm estab- lished the State of Colorado, Martin Luther King Jr Holiday Commission under the leadership of the Honorable Wilma Webb and appointed more the 100 individual to the commission. The weeklong inaugural state event was in 1986 and the only Marade in the nation(coined by the Honorable Wilma Webb) was introduced to Colorado. The charge from Rep Webb was go back to your cities and towns and continue the legacy and reproduce the state model in your own domains. Aurora did that and will be celebrat- ing our 33rd year of weeklong MLK Jr events next year. Our Mayor was indeed appreciative of our being the only city in the nation and touted that fact wherever he went. Stephen Hogan was an Aurora statesman noted for his charismatic and quite style, weaved with humility and grace He was always looking to keeping the peace and fostering com- munity and demonstrating a willful respect for differences. I settled here when Aurora was one of the fastest growing cities in the nation with some 50,000 residents. We are now some 360,00 plus and one of the most integrated cities in the nation, according to a University of Michigan study. Thanks Steve for your leadership and friendship. I am missing you, dear friend....BSB, Ph.D Shannon-Banister Mayor Hogan MEMORIAL ADVERTISEMENT By Shannon-Banister, Ph.D Leon Emerson By Apostle Leon Emerson
