13 SEPTEMBER 2017 BODY OF CHRIST NEWS cares for you. There are so many things that could cause us to worry. A bad report from the doctor can weigh us down. Financial worries can create great stress. We live in a world that is domi- nated by fear of job layoffs, republi- cans, democrats and even the presi- dent. Our walk with the Lord is supposed to be one of trusting Him no mat- ter what we are facing. When trouble comes to our house we must say, "Lord I cast every care on you. My God has not given me a spirit of fear, but of power, love and a sound mind." When you get a bad report, you must cast every care on Him. Our spiritual enemy has a plan to make us think that our situation is never going to change. He wants us to be fearful so he can steal our joy, our peace and our future. God wants us to believe that it's only a matter of time until He brings us out of our trouble. If you believe that God all-powerful, then you can look for a silver lining in every cloud. If you're truly trusting in Him, you will believe that the Lord has everything under control. Paul said to dwell on good things. In other words, quit dwelling on all the negative stuff. Oh how your spiritual enemy loves to see you all worked up over your troubles. The majority of everything we worry about never comes to pass anyway. That’s why we are to worry over nothing but pray over everything. That’s why we can say, “Don’t sweat the small stuff baby.” If you love the Lord then your atti- tude should be, it's only a matter of time until He works everything out. But if God makes you wait for a period of time, then it's because He's teaching you something. So don’t sweat it. If you're in the fire today, you must believe that your miracle is in the fire. You must believe that He will work everything out, and that's why He wants you to enjoy your life now. Don’t let the worries of this world bog you down. If you love the Lord, He will allow you to be tested for a period of time. But when you love Him, it's only a matter of time until He brings you out. When God is working in your life, He will let you go through some difficult times. The caterpillar struggles to get out of the cocoon, but the struggle makes it stronger. God wants to show you that He can deliver you while you're in a struggle. He wants to show you that when all looks lost, He is all you need. Even if the person you love walks out of your life, He will never leave you or forsake you. When somebody walks out of your life, you have to cast that care on Him. When your child is late coming home, you have to pray and cast that care on Him. Anytime a situation is desperate and takes your breath away, you have to cast that care on Him. Be anxious for nothing and trust in the Lord with all your heart. Jesus said, "Come to Me all who are weary and heavy laden and I will give you rest." We are to never go before Him with anything that would cause us to worry. We are to trust in the Lord with all our hearts and lean not unto our own understanding. Don’t sweat the small stuff baby. Worry never solves anything. In fact, the more you worry, the worse it gets. God wants us to get rid of anything that would cause us to worry. He wants us to trust Him so much that we believe He’s working it out one way or the other. Jesus said it this way, "Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid." In other words, the Lord wants us to trust Him so much that we give all our worries to Him and believe that everything is going to be all right. Paul told us that if we'll put on a heart of thanksgiving and pray, that the peace of God would overtake our lives. God loves us too much to let us go through life all weighed down with life’s burdens. Don’t sweat the small stuff baby. No matter who we are, we can't stop trouble from coming our way. So God wants us to grow to the point that we don't let the worries of this life get us down. Worry is rooted in fear and my God has not given me a spirit of fear, but of power and love and a sound mind. If you have gone through a lot of trou- ble, then you are prob- ably a worrier. Now you must replace worry with prayer. We are to pray over everything and worry over nothing. So the next time you get all worked up over some- thing, stop and pray. Remember that in every- thing we are to give Him thanks. "Lord I give this situation to you. I can't take care of it myself, so I give it to you." You'll never have the kind of peace you should have until you quit your trippin' and give it to the Lord. He's the crutch that we lean on and the shoulder we cry on. You may be worried over your chil- dren, but God says give them to Him. You may be worried over your mar- riage, but God says give it to Him. You must believe that everything will work out in due season. Besides, there’s only so much you can do anyway. So don’t sweat the small stuff baby. Jesus prayed this way, He said, "Give us this day our daily bread." You see, the Lord wants us to trust Him daily to Dennis Leonard Continued on Page 15 SERMON Don’t Sweat The Small Stuff Baby DENIS LEONARD ... continued from cover Dennis Leonard is the Founder and Senior Pastor of Heritage Christian Center located at 14401 E.
