14 BOCNEWS.com JUNE 2017 Washing Clothes for the Homeless Bishop Darwin Mitchell is working hard to clean up the homeless on the streets of Denver. That is making sure they have clean clothes to wear. Bishop Mitchell recently launched the first annual event of washing home- less people’s clothes – those in the vicinity between Peoria down to Yosemite streets off Colfax Ave. in Aurora. “I believe next to Godliness is cleanliness,” he states. But for Bishop Mitchell it’s more about serving the community and helping those less fortunate. The event is being sponsored by his church, Born Again Christian Ministries, located at 1298 Peoria. Bishop Mitchell is working with the owner of Laundry on the Fax to continue washing the homeless clothes once a month. Victorieux Gabell of Voice of God Tabernacle Church. From July 1-2, a big worship and healing service will take place at the church with special guest pastor and speaker, Barutti Kasongo. He has one of the largest churches and congregations in the Congo Republic of Africa-- -nearly 20,000 members. “God has given this minister a gift of healing. Every single time he has a big event, we hear about the testimonies of blind people seeing, deaf people can hear, people in wheel chairs have gotten up and walked, and those people with cancer where the cancer disappeared,” said Rev. Gabell. Rev. Gabell is very excited about having the event in Denver and seeing what God can do through the healing touches of Barutti Kasongo. Again the event will be at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 1 and 2 p.m. on Sunday, July 2 at Voice of God Tabernacle Church, 2707 W. Mississippi, Denver. Co. Now he has finally done just that with the help of his two partners Dale Lewis and Lee Williams. They have recently opened the Aurora Hope Center off Colfax and Galena street in Aurora. The building once housed the Africa Mall, and formerly the Soul Center. Pastor Lewis is excited about making the Aurora Hope Center building a multiple venue for his church and other businesses. “Around 16 years ago, Pastor Lewis started the church in the same area as the Hope Center. He is excited about being back in the community where they were able to touch so many lives. One of his favorite slogans is “Back in the hood where I can do the most good.” God has enlarged his territory and now he does not only minister to the lost but he and his partners are able you give new businesses an opportunity to fulfill their dreams without having a lot of overhead. The building has six kitchens that make up the food court. They are looking to have a diversity of food. There is retail and office space that would be perfect for the young entrepreneur looking to launch a business. Being a Pastor he knows how difficult it is to find a place for church anni- versaries and meeting areas that wont drain the budget. Aurora Hope Center can assist you and work within your budget so that the church can actu- ally make some money instead of just barely making it. We can host wed- dings, receptions, anniversary events and birthday parties as well as concerts and revivals. The official grand opening of the facility will be from 12 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 24. There will be free hamburgers and hot dogs for the public. Please come out and support the center. And on Sunday, June 25th a gospel brunch buffet - the cost is $15 per person. We want to invite all the churches to come out after church and enjoy great food and a great atmosphere for fellowship. Lastly worship is another big part of activities at the Aurora Hope Center. Pastor Lewis’s House of Hope Christian Ministries has english speaking ser- vices at 10:45 a.m. on Sundays, and Spanish speak- ing service at 2 p.m. With Weds Night Power Hour bible study every Wednesday evening at 7:00pm. For more information call 303-364-1840. “As a church we want to give people the oppor- tunity to serve the Lord using their spiritual gifts,” Pastor Lewis adds. So far his goal of providing business opportunities to the community through the Aurora Hope Center is just another step in God’s plans.
