I want to start a series on faith in the Name of Jesus. As the return of our Lord Jesus Christ draws near, we as Christians must start to walk in the fullness of the authority that God has given us. Many Christians today are limited in our ability to walk in our God-given authority. We are limited. We are limited because we don't under- stand the power that resides in the Name of Jesus. In fact, many have dumbed-down the Name of Jesus. It's now slang where we say, "Oh Jesus." Because we dropped something. "Oh gee." So, it doesn't pro- duce for us because the Name is not slang. It is not something that we can just trivialize. He said, "I will not hold them guiltless who profane My Name." And we say so many things, and we say, "Gee. Jesus." And we really don't mean it, and therefore instead of us getting what we want, we get the oppo- site. But in this teaching, you will come back to realize that you have a tool to humiliate disgrace and put in their place every power from hell. The Authority of the Name of Jesus The Name of Jesus is not just an afterthought. The power in the Name of Jesus saves. The power in the Name of Jesus heals. The power in the Name of Jesus delivers. The power and the authority we have to use that Name are two essential truths that all Christians need to know, and unfortunately don't. It's time for us as the body of Christ to begin to focus again on the power and the authority that we have in the wonderful, mighty Name of Jesus Christ. You see, when we come to understand the author- ity that is vested in that Name and the right we have to use that Name, we will see God's power released on the earth, released in our home, released in our business, and released in our health. We live as if we have no power. Turn with me to Acts 3:1-9, "Now Peter and John went up together to the temple at the hour of prayer, the ninth hour. 2 And a certain man lame from his mother’s womb was carried, whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple which is called Beautiful, to ask alms from those who entered the temple; 3 who, seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple, asked for alms. 4 And fixing his eyes on him, with John, Peter said, 'Look at us.”'5 So he gave them his attention, expecting to receive something from them. 6 Then Peter said, 'Silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you: but what I do have I give you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk.' 7 And he took him by the right hand and lifted him up, and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength. 8 So he, leaping up, stood and walked and entered the temple with them—walking, leaping, and praising God.9 And all the people saw him walking and praising God." Now, let's jump to verse fifteen. Peter was now talking, when people were looking at them, and they were saying, "How did this happen? How?" They were all amazed, and Peter gave his sermon, and then when he got to verse sixteen, and it says: "His name." Verse fifteen says, "15and killed the Prince of life, whom God raised from the dead, of which we are wit- nesses. 16 And His name, through faith in His name, has made this man strong, whom you see and know. Yes”—faith— “the faith which comes through Him has given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all." I want you to note verse six. Peter said, “Silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have…” You may not have money. You may not have fame. As a believer, you have something that can cure problems. You have something that can put away your prob- lem. You have something that can make you to live like God wants you to live. Peter said, “You are looking for money. You are looking for gold and silver. I don’t have that, but what I do have, when I give it to you, it will change your story forever. Because empathizers and sym- pathizers are not going to fix your problem—there is only one person that fixes problems and that is the one I have. His Name is Jesus.” And in the Name, and in the faith in His Name, this man got up. And the people were wonder- ing, “What’s going on?” When people try to badmouth you, don’t worry. You have something they don’t have: The Name of Jesus. When the enemy tries to attack you, don’t worry. What you have is the Name of Jesus. If we don’t have the Name of Jesus, we are the most mis- erable. The Power of the Name Operates by Faith But the Name of Jesus will not work unless we have faith in the Name of Jesus. The Name of Jesus will not work just by saying, “Yes, Gee.” It will not work. Look at verse sixteen. “His Name, through faith in His Name has made this man strong.” Yes, through faith. I want to remind you: The Devil does not want us to know the importance of the Name of Jesus. Because it is through faith in the Name of Jesus that we can operate in the supernatural. The Devil wants you to say, “It doesn’t matter.” The Devil wants you to operate in the natural. He wants me to operate in the natural, because as long as we operate in the natural, he is the lord of the natural. That’s what the Bible says. The god of this age, Satan, is the lord of the natural. But God is the Lord of both the natural and the supernatural. The Devil fears the name of Jesus and that’s why Satan doesn’t want you to mention the Name of Jesus. That’s why the government wants to remove the Name of Jesus. That’s why during Christmas, they don’t want you to mention Christ; they just want you to mention the mess. Because Satan is afraid of that Name. If you want to pray in Congress now, they don’t mention the Name of Jesus any- more. If you want to pray in the city now, they don’t mention the Name of Jesus anymore. If you want to pray in any meeting now where the government puts money, you cannot say in the Name of Jesus anymore. Because they are scared. Their father the Devil is afraid of that Name. And many of us as Christians as well, because we want to be politically correct and heavenly irrelevant, we become like that, in the Name of anything. They asked me to come and pray. They invited me, and they said, “We want you to do the opening prayer.” I said, “You know me. I will pray in the Name of Jesus and I will scatter your program. If you don’t want your program to be scattered, don’t call me. I am not here for politics. I am not here for you to like me. Let’s settle it.” You see, when you go to war as a soldier, do you go there for the people to whom you are sent to like you? No, you have an assignment. It is the assignment that will cause them to love you. You under- stand me? When they see the result of your assignment, they will love you. Everyone that is sent and is looking for popular- ity is already lost. So, I’m not here for people to like me. So, when people don’t like me, I say, “Yeah, I’m doing the job.” And the thing that I do is I look back, and the people that are follow- ing me are more and more every day. I say, “Who are they?” He says, “Because you are doing My job.” Some people are pursuing popularity and they’ve lost their Name. And those of us that pur- sued the Name of the Lord, we didn’t lose anything. I said, “I will pray in the Name of Jesus.” If it is not in the Name of Jesus, then in the name of who? The Devil doesn’t want you to mention the Name of Jesus, because that name is so powerful that Satan has deceived many Christians into downplaying the power in the Name of Jesus. So, you see that people will pray and not even men- tion the Name of Jesus—in the church! All the Names of God in One In the Old Testament, God is known by many names. Let me give you some of them. Jehovah Jireh—the Lord Provider. Jehovah Shalom—the Lord my Peace. Jehovah Rapha—the Lord my Healer. Jehovah Nissi—the Lord my Banner. Jehovah Ra’ah—the Lord my Shepherd. Jehovah Shammah—the Lord is there. Jehovah Tsidkenu— the Lord my Righteousness. Jehovah Sabaoth—the Lord of Hosts. And many, many other names that the people in the Old Testament had to memorize, but when you get into the New Testament, all those names were packed into one Name: The Name of Jesus Christ. So, you don’t need to keep looking for a concordance to find out what is Sabaoth, what is Ra’ah. You don’t even know a good English, and now they are telling you to go and find Hebrew words. God has already taken care of your laziness—He just packed everything into one Name: The Name of Jesus. And so, when you mention that Name, you have mentioned Jehovah Rapha, you have mentioned Jehovah Shalom, you have mentioned Jehovah Nissi, you have mentioned Jehovah Tsidkenu, and you have mentioned Jehovah Whatever. Because that Name alone combines all the names of God in the Old Testament in power and in authority. That’s not the Name you should be playing with. That’s not the Name we should be toying with. That’s the Name that when Satan hears it, he says, “What’s going on there?” That’s the Name that when the angels hear it, they stand at attention. That’s the Name that when principalities and powers hear it, they run away, and then Christians that are supposed to use it to their advantage, trash it. No wonder many Christians are being buffeted. Praying the Right Way Hear this: even when you pray, you don’t pray for Christ’s sake. Have you heard people say, “And for Christ’s sake pray”? What did Jesus do that you are praying for His sake? You are praying for your own sake. That’s what religion does. You pray in the Name of Jesus; it’s the power of uttering. When you pray for my sake, I need the prayer. Who needs the prayer, Jesus or you? You see the Devil is so smart, he will make sure you pray to your own emotional satisfaction without God’s instruction, because I Ade Ajala By Rev. Dr. Ade Ajala SCRIPTURE The Devil fears the name of Jesus and that’s why Satan doesn’t want you to mention the Name of Jesus. That’s why the government wants to remove the Name of Jesus.
