ADVERTISE WITH THE BODY OF CHRIST NEWS TODAY Being A Father Is Not A Woman’s Job! We live in a time where most kids are growing up without a dad in their home. Some studies show between 30% to near 75% of American homes are single-parent homes depending upon the locality, income level and ethnicity. In most cases, the fathers are the absent ones and women have stepped up into leadership roles out of pure necessity! These amazing women are doing all they can to ensure their kids get everything they need. However, God’s design since Genesis was that a child would have both a father and a mother. While sin has impacted the reality of this design, it has not removed God’s decree on this subject! Well-intended single-parent moms often express their need to be both a mom and a dad to their children. However, it was never God’s desire for a woman to be a “father” to her child. Being a dad is not a woman's job! It's not an issue of capability or capacity. It's all about design. God created a man to be first a husband, and if God wills it, a father! Regardless of an ever-changing cultural norm on this subject, men and women are different in both form and function. Our roles as fathers and moth- ers are tied to our gender. God designed a man to be the father and a woman to be the mother. In the absence of a father, a mother cannot be a father. Nor can a single-parent man be a mother to his chil- dren! We were made in God’s image as both male and female. Our children need to see us glorifying our God-given genders. We are doing more harm than good if we are attempting to be anything but what God designed us to be. God created us in a way to complement one another and serve alongside each other within our dif- ferent family roles! There is nothing more influential upon the lives of our children than our marriages. In the absence of a father in the home, we need to support our single- parent moms and offer to be role models for their children in a way that honors our God-given manhood. And also this holds true for our single-parent dads out there: Your children need to have some Godly women build into their lives in a way only a woman can! ACTUALLY, God’s “Plan A” is the best solution: Women with children need to be moms and men with children need to be fathers! Men, we must commit to owning God’s calling for us as fathers and lovingly hold other men to it as well! It starts with us! Be a man, and be a father to your children! Celebrating 103 Although she has experienced her share of trials and tribulations, Mother Rose reminds all of us that there is value in the back home, good ol' days and how we must put our complete faith and trust in God who has been there for her in good times and in bad. Honored to be the mother of one son and one daughter, Mother Rose stated that she never imagined that she would out-live both her children. Regarding fancy, new-fangled inven- tions, Mother Rose commented that she never thought that she would see an invention like the cell phone which allows people to go any- where and talk to others around the world. She also expressed her amazement regarding the computer that makes it impossible for us to have secrets. Mother Rose declared that she never, ever imagined that the time would come when our country would actually have a Black president. Her favorite food includes greens and cornbread and fried chicken. Her favorite dessert is chocolate ice cream. When asked her secret to a long life, she said, "It is God, having faith that He will provide." Her favorite Bible Scripture is Psalm 23. On June 29th, Mother Rose celebrated her 103rd birthday. Continued from Cover
