21OCTOBER2014BODYOFCHRISTNEWSBelovedMotherLauraMaeNicholsofOverlandParkKansasmadehertransitionfromearthtogloryonThursdaySeptember42014.ShewasbornJune71938inWestVirginiatoEarlieandCharlesGlasco.AttheageofeightyearsoldLauraMaeGlascowasbaptizedandattheageof13shereceivedthepreciousgiftoftheHolyGhostandsincethenshehashadmanyrefillsOnDecember1958shemarriedHaroldNicholsSr.andtothisunionthreechildrenwerebornViolaHancockmarriedtoPastorJimmieL.HancockHaroldNicholsJr.marriedtoJessicaNicholsandSelenaCooper.AmessagefromMotherNicholsLivingformychildrenandgrand-childrenwasagreatjoyforme.Cookingandbakingwasaplea-sure.MygreatestjoywasservingGodandHispeople.GodcalledmefromSis.LauratoEvangelistNicholsbutthegreatestcallwasMotherLauraNichols.IdontregretmywalkwiththeLordforHehasbeenbetterthangoodtome.ForHimIlivedandwithHimIamasleep.TothoseIleavebehindremem-bertoloveGodandloveHispeople.IloveyouallwithalovethatImsureyouunderstandnow.Sticktogetherandloveoneanother.ThosewhoprecededMotherLauraMaeNicholsindeathareherfatherandmotherEarlieandCharlesGlascosistersandbroth-ersLillianPervallVirginiaJamesMargaretBeardEllaSmithJohnCharlieWilburWillieandFrankGlasco.MotherNicholsissurvivedbythethreelovesofherlifeherchildrenSelenaCooperHaroldNicholsJr.andViolaHancock.Sheleaves12grandchildren5greatgrandchildrenandherbroth-erBishopClydeNicholsahostofniecesnephewsspiritualchil-drenandchurchfamiliesbecauseshehasmorethanone.ThefamilyofMotherLauraMaeNicholswishestoexpresstheirdeepestappreciationforyourprayerscardsandmanyexpres-sionsofkindnessandthosewhohavehelpedwithwhateverprac-ticalhelpshavebeenneeded.AspecialnoteofthanksgoestoLawrenceA.JonesandSonsFuneralChapelforthespecialcaretoourfamily.PastorFirstLadyHancockwouldliketoespeciallythanktheGreaterMiracleofFaithandMotherSingletonandhercom-mittee.ElderCliftonYoungwasbornonMarch231944inOaklandLouisianatothelateOssieBell-EverettandClevelandYoung.HewasthebrotherofonesisterEvaMaeCowansandtwobroth-ersJohnWillieandDennisRayHoneycutt.HissisterEvaMaeandhisbrotherJohnWilliehavebothprecededhimindeathHewentfromlabortorewardonSeptember42014inGrandCanyonNV.Whilecelebratinghis25thweddinganniversarywithhiswifeLindaYoung.Hisfinalinter-mentwasheldattheDallas-ForthWorthNationalCemeteryinDallasTexas.Hewasawell-knownmusicianandsingerwhilesingingwithgroupslikeIsraeliteTravelersUnityGospelGroupandCMLMinistriesthroughoutDenver.HewasalsothefounderofhisgospelmusicgroupRootsandBranchesformanyyears.Cliffwasalsoaradioannouncerforyearson1510KDKOradiowithDr.DaddioandhewasaformerbusdriverforRTDinDenver.HisnieceLequitaJ.TaylortheownerofTaylorFuneralHomeiscelebratinghislifeinmusicandsongonOctober112014atKingBaptistChurch3370IvyStreetDenverColorado80207at5p.m.AnyonewhowouldliketobeapartofthemasschoirforElderYoungsCelebrationofLifepleasecontactDr.MichaelWilliamsat720-621-6774orjustcometotherehearsalandtakepartinthisHolyGhostfilledcelebration.RehearsalwillbeonThursdayOctober92014730p.m.atKingBaptistChurch.EveryoneiswelcomePleasecomeoutandhelpcel-ebrateamanofGodwhohaswenthometobewiththeLORDAswelayourbelovedEdnatorestweareremindedofherremark-ablelife.EdnaWilsonMosleywasborninHelenaArkansasMay311925toEdnaAmesWilsonandJudgeLeonWilsonSr.Asadaugh-terofthesouththeWilsonfam-ilyfacedracismandconsiderablebigotry.ThoseexperienceshelpeddefineherlifesworkalongwithhercommittedhusbandLt.Col.JohnW.Mosley.Shewasalifetimemem-beroftheNAACPEdnawasalsoastrongadvocateforsocialchangeandanupliftingforcefortheunder-represented.From1984-1985shewasthePresidentandChairoftheBoardofDirectorsfortheDenverSisterCitiesInternationalInc.In1987asthechairpersonsheledthehighlysuccessfulRoyalPacificCulturalExchangeProjectforDenverSisterCities.Shealsoledmultipledelega-tionstoNairobiKenya.In1988sheaccompaniedGovernorRoyRomeronatrademissiontoChinatodevelopculturalexchangewithColorado.From1990-1991shewastheDirectorofCommunityDevelopmentfortheUrbanLeagueofMetropolitanDenverInc.Shewasalsoinstrumentalinraisingsignificantfundingfororganiza-tionstowhichshewasdedicated.Electedin1991andservingtwelveyearsasthefirstAfrican-AmericanAuroraCityCouncilmemberEdnachampionedseveralcausesincludingcivilrightsgen-derequalityveteransaffairshous-ingandeducation.Shewasaffili-atedwiththeColoradoSupremeCourtNominatingCommissionFitzsimonsRedevelopmentAuthorityandTheCommunityCollegeofAuroraAdvisoryBoard.ThroughoutherillustriouscareershereceivedamultitudeofawardsandhonorsincludingbutnotlimitedtoBigSistersofColoradoInc.SalutetoWomenAwardDistinguishedAlumnusofMetropolitanStateUniversityandtheDenverUrbanSpectrums25TimelessLegendsAward.AsamemberoftheinauguralclassshereceivedherfirstdegreefromMetropolitanStateUniversityofDenverin1969andin2004shereceivedanhonorarydoctoratefromColoradoStateUniversity.ShewasaproudmemberofDeltaSigmaThetaSororityInc.movetothenextlineMrs.Mosleyco-foundedColoradoWomensBankin1978.Shehasbeenafriendandmen-tortoseveralofDenversMayorsincludingWellingtonWebbandMichaelHancock.SheissurvivedbyherhusbandJohnthreelivingchildrenLoretteBrianandErictengrandchildrenandsixgreat-grandchildren.Sheispre
