7MAY2014BODYOFCHRISTNEWSPastorReginaldC.HolmesofNewCovenantChristianChurchAlphaandOmegaMinistriesrecentlyhost-edtheir16thAnniversaryCelebrationwithathemeofTheWomenattheCrossTheSevenLastWordsofJesus.PastorHolmessaystheinspirationforthethemewasUponmycare-fullyreflectingupontheBlackChurchinparticularandtheoverallchurchingeneralintermsofhowChristsdeathburialandresurrectionhavetraditionallybeenpresentedbythechurchwithaveryverymaleempha-sis.HoweverwhenyoulookcarefullywomenwereverymuchplayersinthewholeeventandwhatthewomendidhasoftentimesnotbeenpresentedduringHolyWeekoratanyothertimeoftheyear.Itisnosecretthatthroughouttheyearswomenhavebeenveryrepressedandoppressedinsocietyandinmanywaysalsowithinthechurch.Ourchurchdecidedtodosomethingveryintentionalintermsofpromotingwomeninministry.IbelievethatGodpoursoutHisSpiritonallfleshanditsnotjustreservedformen.Allofthespeakersatthe16thAnniversaryCelebrationwerewomen.Somearepastorsalongsidetheirhus-bandssuchasPastorYvonneEmersonandReverendSandraSullivanPowell.OthersareYouthMinistersorinvari-ousareasofministrywithintheirrespectivelocalchurches.IndeterminingwhoshouldspeakonthisoccasionofcoursePastorHolmessoughttheLordschoice.HesaidIknowthepreacherswhohavespirituallyblessedmeandourminis-trythroughtheyearsandthosewhohavebeensupportersandencouragerstoourministry.Thosearetheoneswithwhomwehaveapersonalconnec-tionandaknowledgethattheybringasenseofholinessthatyouwanttocomethroughtothecongregation.Theeventwasallthatwehopeditwouldbe.InadditiontotheexcellentandanointedwomenwhospokeStellaAwardWinnerLamarCampbelloutofIndianapolisagoodfriendofminealsoblesseduswithmusic.PastorHolmesstatesIwanttocontinuetoencouragethewomen.Manytimesweliftupourothermin-istriesmarriageyouthetc.Wewanttobesurenottoleaveoutourwomenbecausetheybringuniquegiftsandtalents.Theydonthavetoministerinthesamewaymendoweneedthemtoministerasthewomenthattheyare.PastorHolmesknowsthatOurcongregationandthecommunityhavebeengreatlyblessedbyourpresenta-tionoftheWomenattheCrossser-vices.Iamgratefultoallofthewomenwhoparticipatedandthankthemfromthebottomofmyheartforpour-ingtheirspiritouttothecommunitythewaytheydid.Ithasbeenarealblessing.NewCovenantChristianChurchAlphaandOmegaMinistriesislocatedat119ParkAvenueWestintheoldShorterA.M.E.facilitytheCleoParkerRobinsonBuilding.Servicesareheldat1000everySundaymorning.Theserviceusuallylastsabouttwohours.SundaySchoolstartsat900a.m.PastorHolmesinvitesvisitorssayingWehaveaverystrongword.PastorTerranceHughespastorsthechurchalongwithme.WegooutandfeedfolksonthetrianglewedealwithalotofhomelesspeopleandgiveoutcoatsandfoodandweshareamessageonthefirstandthirdSundays.Wegooutonthestreetsandministertothosewhoarebysomeconsideredtheleastofus.Dr.DaddiosaysImsohappytobeapartofawonderfulgrowingchurchasEbenezerBaptistChurch.OurpastorisDr.DeWayneMoore.JustrecentlyIwasordainedasadeaconinourchurch.Iamsoproudtohavetheopportunitytohavetheexperience.IthankGodthatIamabletobehereandserveanddothethingsthatHewantsmetodo.IpraythatHewillgivemethestrengthtobethebestthatIcanbeeverydayofmylifereachingouthelpingsomeoneextendingloveandcareofferingtheopportunitytocreateunityinourcommunityunitywithinourselvesunitywithinourchurch.AndalsoIthankGodforgivingmetheopportunitytobeapartofthisatthistime.Ithinkthisisthegreatestthingthathashappenedtome.IhavedonemanymanythingsbutIthinkisoneofthegreatestachieve-mentsthatIcanaskforwalkinganddoingthethingthatGodwantsmetodo.Iamsogladtohavethatopportunity.Godinspiredmetowriteabouttheyoungmanwhoisnolongerwithusandreachtheheartsofothers.HowdoIfindmeThisseemstobeasilentques-tionthatouryoungpeopleareasking.IlookedatmymomanddadbutIcouldntfindmeIlookedatmyfriendsButIcouldntfindmeIlookedunderatreeButIcouldntfindmeIlookedatmygunsAndIthoughtIwashavingfunButIcouldntfindme.IlookedinGodsWordAndasyoucanseeOneverypageIfoundMEWemustuseGodswordtohelpouryouthfindthemselves.WomeninMinistryEbenezerBaptistChurchOrdainsaNewDeaconHowDoIFindMeBySisterCarrieCHURCHNEWSCHURCHNEWSReginaldC.HolmesAllofthespeakersatthe16thAnniversaryCelebrationwerewomen.CarrieMcElroy
