2BODYOFCHRISTNEWSOCTOBER2013TheMissedEducationASWECONTINUETOMOVEALONGwithourdailylivesmysensesaysthatmanyofusstilldonotunderstandorrefusetoseewhatiscertainlyhappeningtousasasociety.Wearesoconcernedwithourowndailyroutineandpersonallivesthatwefailtoseethehypegoingonaroundus.Webelievethatifitdoesnttouchuspersonallywesomehowwillnotbeaffectedbywhatsgoingon.Theworldiscurrentlymovingvigorouslyandrapidlywithtechnologyandgreed.Moneyisalwaystheconstantmotivator.Wehavebeenmadetofeelbysomethatwithoutcertaintechnologythereisnootherwaytoexistevenwithinoureducationalsystemsandwemustkeepupwithalltheupgradesandallthenewlycreatedtechnicalapplicationsifwewanttoremainapartoforstayupwithwhatsnowconsideredthenorm.Unfortunatelyinmanyinstanceswehavebeenmadetobelievethatwecantfunctionwithoutsomeofthetechnologythatisbeingplacedbeforeus.Inschoolsandbusinessitsurelycanbeavaluableaidandtool.Imustsaythatithasmadethingseasierinmanywaysbuttherearethosewhoalwaysfindaloopholeorfigureouthowtousetechnologyinwaysotherthanitsoriginalintention.Duringmyyouthfulyearsmanypeopleinthecom-munitywouldwatchtelevisionwithotherfamilieswhowerefortunateenoughtohaveone.Andthoseofuswhodidnothaveonewereamazedbythenewtechnology.Wealsogotexcitedabouttheavailabilityofpayphonesbecausetherewasnophoneinmanyofhomesforyears.Wewouldplacelongstrandsofwirebetweentwometalcanstocommunicateverbally.Nowpeoplesitacrosstheroomandtexteachother.Itsnowcommonplacetoseepeopletextingwhiledrivingmakingphonecallsansweringphonecallsandusingallthedifferentappsonthesmartphones.IoftenwonderwhathashappenedtomakeusbelievethatwearesoimportantormaybethosewhowanttocontactussoimportantthatwecantwaittorespondtothecallsandtextsentbythemWhywouldyouputyourselfandothersindanger-oussituationswhiledrivingWedontthinktopulloverorwaituntilwegettoourdestinationtogivearesponse.GenerallywhenmywifeisinthecarwithmeIwouldaskhertoanswermyphone.Iunderstandaboutemergenciesbutyouandothersaroundyoucouldalsobeanemergency.Thisisanexampleoflettingtechnologyorothersruleourlivesbywantinganinstantresponsetotheirwhims.Theydontconsiderthatyoumaynotbeinthebestsituationatthetimeofthecallortext.Thiscouldalsobeawayofkeepingupwithandtrackingyourwhereaboutsfromthosewhoareunsureoftheirrelationshipscountontechnology.Ofcoursethisdoesnotincludethemanypeoplewhobrushtheirteethdotheirmakeupreadbooksfixtheirhairorhaveafullcoursemealonthego.Somechangeclothesaswellaswatchtelevision.Someofyoumayfeelthatthesepeoplehavedemonstratedgoodmultitaskingskillsbutnotsomuchifyouhappentobetheonewhocomesincontactwiththeminanunfortunateaccident.Wealsohavethosepeoplewhothinkthatweshouldusetechnologyasthestandardorinsomecasestheonlytoolforeducatingouryoungpeople.Thereissomevalueinusingtechnologybutmanyotherpartsoftheeducationwillsuffer.ImustexpressthatIamnotagainsttechnologyjustthewayitisbeingusedinmanyinstances.Manyofouryoungpeoplemayfeelisolatedandbecomedespondentwithouttheabilitytointeractorcom-municatewithothers.AssituationswouldoccurinanormalschoolsettingtherewouldnotbetheopportunitytoinjectGodsword.OhyesyouwillnotorshallnothavetheopportunitytoinjectGodswordbecauseinmanyschoolshomesandchurchestodayGodhimselfhasbeenejected.InMatthew2819-20itsaysGoyethereforeandteachallnationsbaptizingtheminthenameoftheFatherandoftheSonandoftheHolyGhostTeachingthemtoobserveallthingswhatsoeverIhavecom-mandedyouandloIamwithyoualwayevenuntotheendoftheworld.Amen.Therewouldbeverylittlerelationshipbuildinggoingonminimaloneononepersonalorphysicalcontactnounderstandingofeachotherespeciallyifyoucomefromdifferentbackgroundsnoproblemsolvingnomentoringaboutrelationshipsnomoraltutoringandnoabil-itytoshareyourfeelings.Thesearesomeofthethingsthatwouldbelackingbetweenstudents.Theybecomefearfulorskepticalofothers.Therewouldbenoopportunitytoroleplayinclass.Nofeed-backwhenthingsaredonerightorwrong.Studentswonthavetheabilitytoparticipateingroupsettings.Maybesomeofuswanttoliveinaworldwherewedonthavetobeconsiderateoforbeinvolvedwithothers.Technologycanttellushowweshouldtreateachother.Itcanttellyoungpeopleabouthavingrespectforthemselvesandothers.Itcanttellthemofthemoralvaluesandimproperrelationships.Theywillbegintotreateachotherassometypeofother.Adaptingorcopingskillswouldbenonexistentandthrownoutthewindow.Unfortunatelytechnologycansetusonacoursetodestructionifnotusedinthepropermannerandinsomecasesitalsobecomesyourgod.Itseemsthatwedontfinditnecessarytoverballycommunicatewitheachotheranymore.IfGodhadintendedforustoberoboticImsurehecouldhavemadeusthatway.Therearealsootherswhothinkthattheoldwayofteachingorthesubjectsbeingtaughtisoutdated.ThethreeRsarestillabighitonmylist.Manyofouryoungpeoplecantmakechange.HowwilltheylaterinlifebeabletomanagethelittlemoneythattheymayacquireTheabilitytoreadwillalwaysleadtomorelearning.Readingisawaytoincreaseyourvocabularyandtoalsolearnofthemanythingsthatarenottaughtinaclassroomsetting.Writingletsthosewhoarein-terestedinJournalismorotherformsofcommunica-tionunderstandhowtoprepareforandbringtolifethethingstheywanttosay.WhatiftechnologywasnotapartofourdailyenvironmentItseemsthatmanyofouryoungpeoplearebornwiththeabilitytoadapttotechnologybutmanyofthemarehavingtroublewiththebasicsubjectsintheclassroom.Theyneedtobetaught.CurrentlymanyofourHighSchoolsandCollegesareturningoutstudentsthatareundereducatedcomparedtothemanywhocamebeforethem.Thisiscertainlynosurprisetomost.HowwasThur-goodMarshallpreparedAftergraduationfromhighschoolheattendedLincolnUniversityinChesterCountyPennsylvania.HethenwentontoHowardLawSchoolandeventuallybecameaSupremeCourtJustice.HowwasBarbaraJordonpreparedSheattendedSouthernUniversityandBostonUniver-sityLaw.ShewasknownasaCivilRightsActivistandwasalsoaUSRepresentative.HowwasMartinLutherkingJr.preparedHeattendedMorehouseCollegeCrozerTheologicalSeminaryandBostonUniversity.HelaterbecamethemostprolificCivilRightsActivistLeaderinAmerica.WhataboutCarterG.WoodsonHewasknownasTheFatherofBlackHistory.HeattendedKentuckysBereaCollegeUniversityofChicagostudiedatSorbonneinParisandattendedHarvardUniversityandtheWestVirginiaCollegiateInstitute.SeptimaPoinsetteClarkattendedColumbiaUniversityandHamptonUniversity.ShewasknownasanEducatorandCivilRightsActivist.ShealsoworkedasanadvocateforAfricanAmericanTeacherstoreceiveequalpay.HaveyouseenBarackH.ObamaHebecameoneofthoseunimportantcommunityorganizers.HeattendedPunahouAcademyOccidentalCollegeColumbiaUniversityandHarvardLawSchool.AfteraperiodoftimeintheSenatehebecamethefirstAfricanAmericanPresidentintheUnitedStatesofAmerica.WecouldgoonandonaboutpeoplesuchasW.E.B.DuBoiswhoattendedFiskUniversityTheUniversityofBerlinHarvardUniversityandlaterbecameknownasaScholarandanActivist.Ibelievethatverylittletechnologywasusedcomparedtowhatweseetodayineducatingthesepeopleandtheeducationstheyreceivedappearsnottohavehinderedthemintheleastbit.Icanseetechnologybeingutilizedalongwiththeregularbasiccurricu-lumbutnotinplaceofit.Iseenogoodreasonwhyweshouldchangethewayweeducateourchildren.IalsobelievethatsomeofthepeoplewhocamebeforeuswouldbedumbfoundedtofindtheirnamesplacedonsomeoftheEducationalInstitutionsthatwehavearoundthecountrytoday.CurrentlytheU.S.places17thintheGlobalEducationRankings.Gettingagoodeduca-tiondoesnotnecessarilycomefromerectinganewfacilityorgivingitafancynameasksomeofthosepeoplewhoaremysenioraboutbeingeducatedinshacksandhavingclassesundertrees.ItalsodoesnotcomefromwearingaparticularuniformorusingeyeorearcatchingtermswithintheMissionStatementsitalsodoesnotparticularlycomefrombussingandyesitdoesnotalwayscomefromthemo-moneymotivation.ItdoescomefromaninspiredAdministratorordevotedPrincipalwhobelievesinchildrenandprovidesgoodleadershiptotheorga-nizationsforwhichtheyhaveresponsibility.Italsocomesfromdedicatedteacherswholovetoteachlovethestudentsandwanttoseethefruitsoftheirlaborrealizednomatterthestudentsethnicback-grounds.AnditalsocomesfrombelievingthattheycanmakeadifferencehaveplentyofpatienceandthegoodjudgmenttocallontheLordforstrengthguidanceanddirectionsafterallhedoesknowyourheart.TrainupachildinthewayheshouldgoevenwhenheisoldhewillnotdepartfromitProverbs226-WilWilson
